You don’t have to take my word for it. All the stats are readily available on the UA’s web site and all you have to do is look (www.arkansasrazorbacks.com).
Austin Allen has led three comebacks this season in the fourth quarter or overtime so no, they don’t always fail in game critical situations
I didn’t say anything about failures by AA. He deserves a much better offensive line. They have had several collapses mostly of a defensive nature this season along with those many in the past I earlier referred to. Remember what happened at TCU after that gimme close FG attempt clanked off the goalpost in a miss? Then down in Dallas in the second half when Texas A&M stood them up at the goal line for four plays inside their two yard line. Big time collapses both times.
Maybe a bit overboard with regard to the TCU game. However it took multiple extraordinary late heroics by AA & Skipper to salvage that game after that post FG team collapse.
Lets all wait and see if he beats Florida or LSU and wins 3 of last four games. That would be a year over year improvement right? I agree that if we have another defensive collapse then the DC should go soon. Yep,it was painful that dang Auburn game. AA is better, the OL got another week of CORRECTION and the DL did too. Lets hope for the best. HOGS YA’LL.
First off I think that(in spite of some nay-sayers)the jury is still out on where CBB fits into the great Arkansas Coaches column. I say that because he continues to improve year-over-year. Just for conversation here are my top 3 head hogs. 1.)Frank Broyles-because he won a NC in '64. 2.)Lou Holtz-because he had us in the hunt for a NC and a top five finish and he stood-up to Frank Broyles.
3.)Bret Bielima…well just not sure yet. HONORABLE MENTION to Ken Hatfield a true son of Arkansas and UA. HOGS YA’LL.
Uhmmmm… Did you not know that the Hogs have played football prior to the year 2012? Yep… your “by far the best coach Arkansas has ever had” is certainly better than the clown John L Smith.
I went back and looked at the last 50 years of Razorback coaches and their seasons. This is what I found.
Frank Broyles’ best team was his 64 team, obviously. He was in his 7th year. His 7th, 8th, 11th, and 18th were all 10+ win seasons.
Lou Holtz had his best 2 seasons in his 1st and 3rd year. In his 4th thru 7th seasons there was a decline in record. However, his 6th season he did rally to have a 9-2-1 record.
Ken Hatfield won the SWC in his 5th and 6th seasons with a record of 10-2 both years. He did have a 10-2 season in his 2nd year, but finished 2nd in the conference.
Danny Ford had his best season in his 3rd year and won the west taking us to the SEC title game. However, many say that Nutt’s first season success was, in large part, attributed to Danny Ford’s recruiting and that he should have been given 1 more year. It would have been Ford’s 6th season.
Houston Nutt had 10 seasons on the Hill. His 1st, 5th, 6th, and 9th seasons were his best. His 9th being his only 10 win season and probably his most talented team.
Bobby Petrino had 4 seasons. He went 10-2 in his 3rd and 4th seasons , and won his bowl game in the 4th season giving him 11 wins. I believe his 3rd season was his most talented team.
Bret Bielema is currently in his 4th season at 5-3. His best season to date is his 3rd.
The trend that I noticed is that Arkansas coaches usually have their most success between the 5th and 7th seasons. I believe all these coaches are/were very good at what they do. It just takes a little while for coaches at Arkansas to put in place the pieces they need to have that success. I think it is in direct relation to the recruiting base these coaches have to navigate at Arkansas.
yep, believe they started playing around 2010, right? look, I get it, we all won’t agree on same thing, and no, I don’t believe “every” recruit will go elsewhere, but let’s be honest, it is Arkansas, and as previously stated , not exactly a d1 recruiting hotbed so even losing one is bad enough. I guess i’m confused as to exactly what you guys are expecting, cause if you can’t see a major improvement from what he inherited , then it’s most likely you don’t want to see. I’m also a little curious as to why you have become so used to winning that it has to be “right now”, cause I have been a razorback fan for all of the years I can remember of my 45 years on earth , and to be honest it’s always been peaks and valleys, with the good coaches skidaddling at first chance . maybe stability will work better, it does seem to coincide with the programs that are viewed as “elite”. bielema is a great coach, sure we all are dumbfounded by the auburn game, but let’s show a little patience , see what the guy can do, I would ante up one of my hanging manhood-ibles that even if theres a stumble it wont be that bad
Betting your manhoodibles is very commendable and shows a lot of faith and confidence.
Hmmm, I like that but I don’t bet mine on anything even at 99-1 odds.
Well…Rah,Rah,Zisboombah!!! We beat #11 Florida! Looks like we are going to finish what 8-4 or 9-3? Looking like the right path to me even after the Auburn debacle. HOGS YA’LL.
This Razorback football team might not be consistent enough to win most of its games, but it’s really a bad idea to give up on them, too. Makes you look bad. They’re on a slow building program, and it’s going to have ups and downs. But it’s the program, and you should try to support it rather than surrender at the first opportunity. They need support to get where you want them to go. They do not need a new coach every few years.
