Time to head in another direction in football. IMHO..

The “threats” was directed at Elumenor (sp). I was responding to General about the “Hog fans were crazy” and if I’m not mistaken, it was actually an aTm fan that was pretending to be a Hog fan.

I’m 100% sure that someone from the UA reads the board, as you said assistants.

Now, what I said about what he discussed during the pressor was something he brought up. At least I didn’t here a question asked (the presser was posted on here, but we can’t hear questions), but he (CBB) didn’t act like he was responding to a question.

Yes, other fans said it, it’s not unusual. I’ve been told I shouldn’t post if I don’t agree with you, Clay, or anyone else who works for Wholehog, because what y’all say is the gospel truth. Now, I’m not trying to be rude, but y’all have been known to be wrong from time to time (hence my statement on the old board, that I just didn’t listen to you, RD, or Otis on recruiting, even though I give y’all credit even when y’all are wrong (our disagreement about Porter).

Not the nine assistants on the field, but students - just to clarify.

This board - and the old one - wouldn’t be as successful as they have been - if people didn’t post who disagreed with us.

What we say is not the gospel truth. I don’t think any of us have ever claimed that it is.

But what it usually is - an opinion with some background since we are usually privy to more information that is made public.

Certainly we have been wrong at times. Don’t think I have ever claimed to be infallible.

Porter?

[quote=“DudleyDawson”]

Porter, the FB recruit that chose Texas over us last Spring. You or Richard (I believe it was you) had posted a story on him where he said, “I love the Razorbacks, but the backfield is kinda crowded.” Just before signing day, someone asked about the huge visitor list that came in and who would we get. I responded with one (the Okie Light flip). I made the statement that if you read what Dudley and Richard post then you know the rest are not coming here. You disagreed, and asked what I meant, and I posted the Porter statement. I got he wasn’t coming here out of the “but” statement, and that’s because you, Richard, Otis actually put what is said, whether it turns out to be a good thing or bad thing. I follow other recruiting guys who don’t always put everything that is said out there.

This is what Porter said.

"They’ve still got three who have played coming back next year.,” Porter said. “Devwah’s committed here, so that’s a good bit of backs, but it’s not a bad number.”

Thank you for the actual quote. The three still coming back, and Devwah’s committed, so that’s a good bit of backs makes it sound like he wasn’t interested. At least to me, it sounded like he was scared of competition. Others (internet bloggers or reporters) didn’t post that statement.

Actually a very good source told me he wanted to come, but his parents weren’t on board.

I thought that about Fulton.

That 11-4 is very deceiving with a Toledo loss in the same season before starting it and about 0-15 trying to get one yard inside the 5 yard line against Texas A&M plus sleep walking at Auburn within it. Bad defense and pitiful O-Line performance is where we are now at. That is a fact. I never said these message boards have total positivity on anything. That was clearly a reference to the mindset of a specific group of fans. I am sure not silly enough to think or allege that fans on message boards influence a football team’s performance either. That was a reference to the present logical mindset of a thinking fan.

You sports reporters need if not desire a positive relationship with these coaches to more easily facilitate your jobs. I doubt and don’t expect you to agree with much I say negatory about Bielema.

or assistants I post it or say it.

I dont really worry about criticizing them because they know it is not personal, it’s professional and I can remember only one coach in 30 years who felt it was personal.

And that is someone that I consider a father figure in Nolan Richardson and we talked that out and he understood where I was coming from at the end of the talk.

Feel free to go back through posts or listen to archived radio shows.

Such as while I like Robb Smith, the production has not been there by the defense last season or this season.

Be in recruiting, evaluation or development, I am not going to say it’s been great or even good and look like a fool.

He will be judged by his head coach at the end of the season - just as assistants are every year.

The OL has not been good. That’s on the head coach, the former OL coach and the current OL coach.

I said in 2015 and 2016 that they should have signed more OL - at least 3 if not 4 more.

I have said recently that having to move Froholdt from the DL to OL validated that.

Having to throw Raulerson in there validated that as well.

Brian Wallace is making progress, but one would have thought he would have secured that tackle spot and run with it since he was rated so high and had offers from Alabama and a ton of other elite colleges.

Jalen Merrick was another 4-star with elite offers who has not made a move. Either misevaluating by many schools and scouts, lack of development or something else.

For that matter, I have said that Coach Anderson was going to be on the hot seat this season unless he showed hope for the future.

He still has to win on the court, but his 2017, 2018 and 2019 recruiting obviously has done that.

So this sentiment that we have to buddy up to coaches or we would lose access just isn’t true

The 11-4 record is no more deceiving than the 2-3 is in the last five games.

Its is what it is.

Arkansas has been 5-4 in SEC games during the 11-4

The Razorbacks are 7-4 against Power 5 teams during that time.

They were 5-3 in SEC play last season, 1-3 this season.

Again, it is what it is

Bielema is:

2013----3-9
2014----7-6
2015----8-5
2016----5-3 So Far

While those totals are not bad considering the scandal that preceded Bielema. They will not endear him to fans either. If Bielema finishes this season at 8-4 or 9-3, obviously not much to really bellyache about. However I just don’t see it. We will see with that O-Line? AA goes down against Florida, chalk up an 0-4.

My problems wiith Bielema are the fundamental breakdowns. Nobody to kick extra points one year. It was ridiculous and it cost us big time against both Alabama & Georgia. Didn’t have a FG kicker last year. Now the O-Line is bad and a seasoned defense has gone crummy. I just think this is a coach who will always have an achilles heel in the SEC. Some fundamental weakness that costs games like drowning in the pool when just about to win the swimming race. I think that is just how it is with him.

I must be missing something.

Since Bielema arrived, Arkansas is 156-of-158 in PATs.

58-58, 51-53, 28-28 and 29-29

How is that having nobody to kick them?

I do get the missed extra point against Alabama as it ended up 14-13, but Kody Walker also fumbled going in and Alex Collins fumbled on his own 23 so hard to place all the blame on the kicker there.

The Georgia game was a 45-32 loss

Did you maybe mean FGs?

Arkansas was a subpar 9-of-15 last season.

They are 8-of-10 this season with Hedlund missing a pair.

McFain is 4-of-4 after getting healthy and kicked a 54-yarder for the only points in the debacle at Auburn

I’ll take your word, but I cannot find that stuff your posting on the internet. it is not on the university sponsored Razorback kicking site. I have no Arkansas stat book. That extra point miss was on the Hog’s first TD against Georgia in Little Rock. The team then went into a total collapse which has now became standard on failed scoring attempts in game critical situations in the Bielema era. Those collapses still being something else that points directly to bad coaching. They also missed a critical extra point against Alabama that decided the game that year, losing 14-13. The FG kicking problem was last year, most memorable in directly costing us the Mississippi State game.

Somebody can debate me until doomsday. I have watched football well over 50 years. Bielema is not a good football coach. His teams do not appear SEC tough or fundamentally sound. He is going to be fired at Arkansas within three years. Our wealthy donors will surely demand it. They know football as well as I do.

What we all should know is recruiting is the life blood of college football. Ark and Miss. have equal population but they produce more DivI athletes. One reason and I hope no one takes offense, they have a larger African-American population in the state and more people in the 17-22 year old group. Basically, they have a larger pool of athletic kids. Also, high school football in Miss. is better than Ark especially considering Little Rock public schools are not producing Div I talent that Ark can use.

The result of this, Bielema will have to recruit Juco players until he can develop high school recruits. That means he will have to hit a home run almost every time he recruits a Juco player. Hits and misses won’t cut it! He will need to go to the top Juco schools and camp out there every year and try to lure those kids to Ark. Yes, we are the Kansas St. of the SEC. Trying to recruit like LSU, Bama, A&M is a losing cause.

Know what…? We played pretty darn well against Ole Miss and they are a good football team. I think maybe there is something going on with the team internally that is causing some problems.I can’t put my finger on it. However, we will find out if the team has patched things up over the next two games. We have another defensive collapse and I want CRS outa-here. Now that AA will be healthy I expect the OL to play better also or maybe we are spinning our wheels with all these current SPECIALISTS. In any case we have not won against Florida in what 9 years? Brooks Ellis and Austin Allen need to get this team ready to kick some butt. HOGS YA’LL.

I don’t think its time to go in another direction with the coaches yet. The exception being the DC if we get blown out like that again. Year-over-year there has been an improvement. These next two conference games will tell us a lot. I’ll wait and see. HOGS YA’LL.

A person can talk about good Game Plans and offensive & defensive schemes. However winning football basically boils down to two things:

  1. Athletic Ability
  2. Execution of Fundamentals (Blocking & Tackling)

The O-Line problem the Hogs have seems to be a combination of both. The Defense problem appears to be just #2. Anyway one wants to cut this. It is all on coaching. Coaches are responsible for securing & developing the Athletic Ability and for preparing the team to Execute Fundamentals.

These teams Bielema fields are constantly lacking in Athletic Ability or Execution of Fundamentals the whole four years he has been here. A person can point out decent statistics here and there but the overall condition of this program is just not good at all. That is all on Bielema.

an expert.

if it did, I could proclaim to be one.
