Petrino would have lost this puppy

No way he would have ran the qb. TCU would have slaughtered us. WPS

LMAO… nice

It’s the troof. He would have had 1000 yards in offense and lost. No defense.

Coach B has lost games eerily similar to this one on several occasions in the past. One of those was to Kenny Hill.

I know I am in the minority here, and there is no way to know one way or the other, but I believe that BP was going to start working on defense. He isn’t stupid (stupid decisions at times, yes, stupid no). He wants to win it all. He knows you have to have a defense to do that.

IMO, he started with offense because that is his baby and it was the easiest thing to address and it pays instant returns in wins and fans. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t ever going to address defense.

I respect your opinion and the sentiment you expressed. I don’t feel qualified to weigh in on this particular subjective issue. I would merely note that Petrino was (and is) very predominantly offensive minded and motivated. I assume that he would have, at some point, garnered more effective defensive specialist coaches; but that’s simply a supposition on my part.

I appreciated Petrino’s on-field expertise and efficiency. I did not, however, appreciate either his off-field pastime peccadilloes or the negative publicity and notoriety he cavalierly visited upon The University Of Arkansas…

I’ll stifle myself and put my soapbox away now.

I wonder if Bobby has learned a new play on third or fourth and one. That hand off to the first back did not work well when he was at UA.

Oct 1, 2011.

Will CBB ever have a 21-5 two year stretch?

I’ll be delighted for Petrino should he compile a 50-0 record stretch - - as long as he does so at anyplace other than Arkansas. Putting whipped cream and a cherry on top of liver & onions is not my idea of a treat, and does not advance the value of said commodity for me. Over and out.

Petrino is a great coach. However, he left so I suppose it is only natural that those younger and inexperienced wish to criticize with or without a valid reason.

I watched the Louisville game this weekend. There is no doubt that Bobby Petrino is one of the best football coaches and offensive minds on the planet. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that he will one day win an NC. And maybe that soon. But I’m glad he is where he is and we have who we do. Very glad. I would not trade the kind of college experience that the young men are now having for any amount of glory. To be dog-cussed and run down and abused every day of their football lives has to have left a scar. Don’t get me wrong. I want the NC. I want to win by shutting out the last 6 opponents. But I want the men that do it to look back with joy at their experience in athletics and in The University of Arkansas. And if we can’t do it that way, if we can’t do it the right way, then I don’t want it.

Not sure if BP wins or loses against TCU but he is not known for a stout defense. It would have been ashoot out and well…maybe we do lose. Let us move on. HOGS YA’LL.

One thing to remember about Petrino, he was a micro-manager. He controlled EVERYTHING, down to the smallest detail. Coach Bielema is the opposite (a la JFB); allowing his assistants to coach. That’s why Coach B’s assistants get hired by other programs - they have already been given a lot of responsibility.

I want a program I can be proud of, based on decency, and I don’t think that is what Coach Neck Brace believes in, no matter how many NCs he may one day theoretically win – which I predict will be zero, BTW.

In the business world, when a level of management leaves, gets promoted or decides to take another position, if the business suddenly falls apart it is a reflection on the previous leader. When P train left, we fell apart because he ran the entire show. We can see the level of teaching and coaching other coaches while he was here.

Now, I know CBB runs an entirely different style than P train. That doesn’t change the fact that P train left his staff behind the following season after lying and cheating on his wife. I believe that was the year we got beat by ULM at home. We were rated a top 15 team when the season started. I think we won a couple of games. What happened? P train did no real development of coaches. His coaches.

I’m glad P train is gone. He would have dumped us by now anyway. Prolly would have left a goodbye note in the locker room scribbled on a Volleyball schedule he had in his pocket.

Tommy Tubberville would agree with me.

I am convinced that Arkansas fans just enjoy being mediocre… Petrino runs his QB at Louisville so much that the guy is being talked about as a heisman contender. Turn on your TV its Louisville, Louisville, Louisville on espn non stop. Unlike some of you other guys I miss those days. And honestly I DO NOT care how many girlsfirends the guy had or how man of them hired. The man was such a good coach that we should have hired him his own personal entourage of female employees if thats what it took to keep him happy. Its unreal that any fan base could find fault with a coach who ended his career at 21-5 and embrace a guy who went 0-13 to start his career and in what has been his best year so far squeeked by wins against the likes of La tech… Meanwhile Bobby is in his third year and ranked tenth and trying to contend… You guys buy into Jeff Longs spin way too much… Jeff didn’t like Bob he wasn’t enjoying practices… As if I care. And plus its football if cursing and berating players bothers you then find a sport thats more suited for your delicate nature… Maybe badminton ? Jeff fired the best chance Arkansas has ever had at a title. And if all you can say is well he was immoral then you are a joke. Everyone is immoral under the right circumstances. NOBODY is perfect. At least with Bob we won. Its sad that fans have zero appreciation for that just because Jeff Long tells you what to think.

My immediate predecessor on this thread is obviously committed to belaboring the point pertinent to his disdain for any attendant inclusive or comprehensive concerns apart from on-field wins and losses. Some continual malingerers who doggedly continue to beat the drum for Petrino and to belligerently bemoan his departure with caustic angst apparently would not care in the least should a head coach be unequivocally proven to beat his wife and kids, steal from The Salvation Army collection depot, pull wings off butterflies and viciously torment and torture small, hapless animals, and/or prey upon innocent young females by means of the internet. The mindset - and the repetitive spiel - of these repining Petrino torch bearers espouses the one note symphonic contention that Petrino’s on field record of achievements renders any and all other peripheral concerns and character considerations irrelevant and void. I TRULY feel sorry for these blinders-wearing, laser beam-focused aficionados. Refusing to place any value on a comprehensive assessment of one man’s competence devalues the aggregate inherent humanity of us all.

It must be so sad when you Bobby P. stalwarts come to this site and see we are not humbly worshiping your hero. Something that just gets your panties all in a tight pinch. Petrino had lost interest in everything Razorback when he hit a public highway with a woman less than half his age wrapped around him. He cared nothing about the team, fans or the old lady back at the house. He was surely about to kiss this place goodbye as he will do at Louisville when the brighter lights beckon. Enjoy the success he has at Louisville. Success that is his ticket out of town. He is a rambling man like Dickey Betts sang about.

I agree, and materialism does not qualify as good most of the time.
