As good as Barford is, he was a big problem for us on those 2 trips down the court.
Sooooo close… Going cold those last three minutes killed Us.
But I am very proud of Their effort and the Fire with which they played!
Dammit. We definitely had our chances to put this one away. Yes, the refs seemed a little…preoccupied toward the end. But, we can be proud of our guys. We were NEVER supposed to be in this game at all. Then, we get down by 17 and fight all the way back to take the lead. This was a gritty bunch of players.
It was a good season. I’m already looking forward to next season.
Was it not clear that on the 3 pointer that Macon took with a little over a minute left not only did the Carolina guy hit the ball but he hit Macon’s hand, too? We get nothing and Carolina gets the ball. Then Meeks shoves Bailey to the ground at the other end no call and they get a put back. I don’t want to sound paranoid but it appeared that the refs gave Carolina every call at the end.
They definitely missed the blocked shot.
Good showing, much better than I expected. But, a loss is a loss. Maybe we’ll be back to competitive on a national scale someday soon.

I can live with the no-call on Meeks. Letting the kids play is one thing.
However, there is ZERO reason for not making the right call on the Macon three. It’s pretty simple. Look at the kids hand hit the ball. Then watch the ball hit out of bounds. I don’t understand how that wasn’t given back to us.
I’ve been saying from the beginning that something was up with Barford tonight. Normally, his gymnastic shots are more timely and based upon a very specific situation, think shotblocker. Tonight, he was doing it all the time–just throwing the ball at the rim without any regard for where his teammates were. I don’t know. He’s really fun to watch. I love that we have him; his demeanor reminds me a little bit of Charles Oakley–just doesn’t care about how much bigger anyone else is. But, he was out of control tonight.
You might have a point about that, but sometimes he makes those shots. We’d never have been where we were without him.

No doubt. I love the kid. He just never seemed to settle in tonight. Can’t wait to see him next year with this experience under his belt.
His dribbling 20 seconds off the shot clock before getting the ball to Macon to try to bail us out was hard to watch. But the refs completely missed the fact the shot was blocked out of bounds. That was harder to watch.

Barford had a tough night shooting. Hannahs had a tough night shooting. Kingsley had a tough night, too, even missed two clutch free throws late, but the defense the team played! Carolina is extremely lucky to be moving on. Everything went their way in the last two minutes. Up till then we had 'em. Kudos to Mike Anderson and his team. I think they showed tonight on the national stage that there is no team out there we are not capable of going toe to toe with, even against the best!

What I saw tonight was talent vs heart and heart came very close to winning. We ARE adding more talent and if MA can get next years team to also play with heart then a sweet 16 or better is possible.
