The Fire CMA committee is picking up steam. Hopefully they can get us the next Billy Donavian or they can get ole Fred from the bulls he’s not doing too good there. Either one of those guys will have this Thing turned around in a season or two and have us it’s the FF.

Unfortunately its not up to us. Its up to the Chancellor and board. And it seems they only listen to the donors. The only way things will change on the Hill is if the fans, students, alumni, and donors cut the money off. For years the Athletic Department have bled this State dry with their demands for new facilities. They have conned us into believing that if they got new facilities, recruiting would improve and winning would return. Well, where is the winning?! I no longer believe what our local “experts” like Bo, Dudley, or Clay have to say about our incoming recruits. If the basketball recruits are as good as advertised, what good will they be in an antiquated system that Everyone in the SEC knows how to beat? I really like coach Anderson. I really thought he would turn things around. But things are not progressing. In some ways, things are as bad as when he got here. Unfortunately, I don’t think Long, CBB, or MA are going anywhere. They will be back next year. CBB’s buyout is to big, and Anderson’s two incoming classes are his trump cards. I hope things turn around for both football and basketball next year. But I’m not holding my breath. If things don’t improve significantly next year, we need to put pressure on the Chancellor and the board to change things.

The only problem is that unless an incoming class is elite (say top 10), an incoming class is not going to make that big of a difference in wins and losses immediately. Next year’s class may be good, but it is not an elite class like Kentucky, Duke, or Kansas gets. Freshmen are, generally, too inconsistent to make a huge impact. Even Portis, during his first year, as good as he was, was not able to get them to the NCAA tournament. The incoming class does not have a Portis type talent in it. I think CBB should get one more year. My theory is that a new coach needs 5 years. That is when he has his own entire roster with no holdovers left. If there isn’t any substantial progress in the 5th year, start over. If the football team has another 6 or 7 win regular season, it will be time to part ways. Coach Anderson is in his 6th year and they still aren’t any better than they were in his first couple years. They are still a mediocre, middle of the pack SEC team that exhibits the same inconsistency they did when he started. They had one good year, then went right back to mediocrity. Reminds me of the Houston Nutt days in football. They would have a great year once every 4-5 years, then right back to middle of the pack. Six years is long enough.

Any hope I had that we might make the NCAAT went out the window, but maybe next year.

Where is the General and Hog Breath when CMA needs some help??? Personally I think CMA and his crowd has had enough time to prove their worth. Time to bite the bullet and move on. I hope he makes me eat my words since I know Jeff Long will not fire him since it will make him look bad. I think this losing thing is infectious since it appears the majority of Hog athletic programs are digressing. Track and baseball has been the most successful programs and they both appear to be slipping.

Can’t defend the lose, it was pathetic. BUT as someone who was ACTUALLY at the game and saw most of it, this wasn’t Anderson’s fault. Our boys just couldn’t buy a bucket. Hannahs and Macon missed about 6 layups in that first half put together. Kingsley is just playing selfish. Honestly, I think Anderson needs to bench him. I thought during the Alabama game he was playing selfish with his two break aways. One ended up good(but ugly) and the other was just ugly. He seems more concerned with getting his stats, than playing team ball the last few games. Anderson had the right system going, but our boys just weren’t executing. It’s that simple.

I’m still here. I was ACTUALLY at the game and too tired to read dribble and reply when I got home. I never said they WOULD win 6, I said they had to and that still holds true.

“In some ways, things are as bad as when he got here.”

WHAT?! You have a very short memory if you don’t remember the disaster of the Pelphrey years.

Sure, if we win six of the last seven we’re still in business. But what are the chances? It would take a miracle.

Not yet, RPI wise this wasn’t a horrible lose(though all loses are horrible). There is light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s getting smaller.

That is the light of a locomotive

Oh I agree. At this point, if we can’t clean up our act then it will take a run in the SEC tourney, if not winning it, to get to the NCAA tourney. You say miracle, well, this has been the season for come from triumphs. Why not us?

Hey General, maybe I’ll meet you at the SC game and we can discuss the pros and cons of team and staff. I’ll be the guy with the paper bag over my head with HOG FAN on it. Ha Ha
I lived in New Orleans for awhile during their the Saints lean years. Some of the football players and basketball players lived in my neighborhood.

True but the probability is so small, I disregard it. 32 teams get automatic bids so our RPI must end in high 20s or very low 30s to have any chance.

Give me 100 to 1 odds and I would take it; I might even take 20 to 1 odds, but I would certainly decline 10 to odds which means I believe our odds are about 5%. That is low enough for me to disregard it.
