Long time fan. First time poster. I love this forum (so much better than hogville)…Thanks to the employees of ADG/writers who participate and banter with us Razorback fans. It is much better than twitter and I really enjoy reading posts by Dudley, Richard, and Matty Ice Jones. Thanks! WPS
Thanks for being here and posting.
I’m sure that everyone understands that there are different personalities - along with somewhat differing slants, opinions and priorities - represented here on this board. I was gratified to discover that this new board was one which featured an exchange of information, thoughts, opinions and convictions which are refreshingly relatively free of coarse, surly, confrontational language and personal attacks. I appreciate the pervasive atmosphere of overall civility here.
“The Good Book” says “the laborer is worthy of his hire” People have a right to make a living utilizing their talents and skills. We should not begrudge the fact that these writers and administrators offer the fruit of their labors in exchange for financial compensation. This free forum is a PRIVILEGE extended to those of us who either cannot afford a premium membership fee - or else decline to avail ourselves of that service for reasons of our own.
If your next-door neighbors should invite you over for a free-to-you steak cookout, don’t you think it might be rather crass and unrealistic of you to turn your nose up at sirloin and berate your gracious neighbors for not serving New York Strips? If you insist upon New York Strip Steaks, - - then BE WILLING TO PAY FOR NEW YORK STRIP STEAKS!!! Otherwise, I think that it would be kosher to be grateful for what you are provided and refrain from carping about it.
[quote]If you expect things for free, then you’ll get what you pay for. The writers for this site expect to get paid to help take care of their families. Wholehog sports is a business. It has to sustain revenue to pay the writers and to provide economic benefits to the State of Arkansas.
You have every right to not participate in a paid subscription, but don’t flail in anger because you don’t get the information you desire for free.

Many are referencing the Disqus-based features we used to enjoy as subscribers to the ADG. When the ADG became “powered by Hawgs Illustrated” the ADG subscription price did not drop, but we lost the features we enjoyed. It is really a 1990s AOL feature to have to change web pages and create a thread. On a more modern platform like Disqus I would not have to post your comments to reply to them directly, nor would I have to place them in quotes with a text editing tool to set them off in my post. In fact, they would not need to be restated at all; I would simply reply to your specific comment and the platform kept the threads aligned. Presumably the ADG paid their writers and the paid subscription is now worth less than it was to those who don’t choose to add a separate HI subscription. Frankly even for those that do buy both subscriptions this is simply a klugy and wildly outdated mode of interaction. So please don’t demean those who simply became accustomed to moderately modern technology for what they paid for.
I don’t begrudge your feelings toward Technology. I agree with your thoughts on such; but you were not clear on your original post, to which, I made said reference to such - don’t take my stance wrong, and I appreciate the clarification.

I started this thread because very few were posting. It is good to see so many post their thoughts. Now if we could get more thoughts on recruiting and BB games it would be great.
Totally agree… BEST SITE FOR RAZORBACK SPORTS
I think the issue is there is a recruiting board, a basketball board, and a football board, and a lot of the discussions that are coming up on here, are already being discussed on there, so people aren’t responding on both. On the old HI, I preferred the free board, I’d pay to see the pay info, but the guys on the free board were more sociable. JMO on what’s going on.
