Reality Rears it's Ugly Head.

After 2 Tough games against a Number 1 and a number 12 teams with talent. We just might have been a little beat up. Coaches don’t always make known the ailments some of the players have plus the mental fatigue and Aubie having 2 weeks rest and playing at home. Recipe for a tough Saturday for a visiting team.

I remember something Danny Ford said immediately after he was hired at Arkansas nearly 25 years ago. Ford had spent the late 1960’s as an All-SEC offensive tackle coached by Bear Bryant. Ford had won an NC at Clemson. Ford said he was going to work at Arkansas to develop Two-Deep depth on the OL & DL. Ford said this would take time requiring red-shirting but it was necessary for Arkansas to compete on the Championship Level in the SEC. Ford was fired by Broyles after two consecutive 4-7 seasons in his 4th & 5th years as Razorback coach. However Nutt took his team the next year after Ford was fired and probably came within a fumble in the pouring rain in Knoxville of winning an NC. Tennessee went on to win that NC after benefiting from that fumble to score a late TD to salvage a win against the Hogs.

People on this board that say Arkansas fans must settle for mediocrity in football are dead wrong. Arkansas has just never had the right coach in 25 years in the SEC. The philosophy Ford had of red-shirting offensive & defensive lineman to gain Two-Deep depth in the SEC is lost to the coaches we have had up there since Ford. Alabama does it all the time since Bryant. We have got to get a coach with an SEC mentality. Not some dude trying to be cute on some reality show lunacy.

Would’ve Sam Pittman had the O-line more prepared than Kurt did?

Shades of the Super Bowl with Seatle and Denver where Denver seemed to be countered on every move. Offense and defense. While I am not at the game I see by network cameras that OC is openly talking into his Mike and not covering his lips like many other coaches do. This may not be an instance of lip reading but it doesn’t seem like good due diligence to surefire communications.

One other worthless note. Auburn used a new offensive coordinator calling plays and a new defensive coordinator calling plays. Sort of like a perfect storm. Not a lot of counter coaching knowledge. What could we learn from their new play calling?
