Reality Rears it's Ugly Head.

Not at all, my point is to show the hypocrisy of people with this “I told you” attitude showing up only when we lose.

Per the recruiting services, Petrino’s last two classes landed in the Top 20 on at least one service. Brandon Allen, Johnathan Williams, Gaines and several other that graduated the last two years (and were part of our improvement) belonged to those classes. CBB’s first year is rated as his highest here (AC, AA, HH, DK) and many others, who left early last year. So, his first two years his “struggles” was not due to Petrino’s “lousy” recruiting even though everyone wants you to believe that. Those three classes almost all left last year, and all the rest, but AA will leave this year. So, maybe Petrino’s classes aren’t the problem.

I didn’t post that Topic Thread here and I have never replied to any comment addressed to me about Hog losses with “I told you.” That would sound as gloating. You are right, gloating about Razorback losses is deplorable. Not proper conduct at all. Those people cannot be Hog fans.

I think when you’re not even competitive, as was the case the 2 years after CBP was let go, that’s due to recruiting. If CBB is so incompetent that with good recruiting he still couldn’t be even competitive, then how was he successful at Wisconsin? The idea that a team that regularly gets blown out could some how be winning if only there were a different coach is where my whole “coaching is overrated” thing came from. Coaching is important, and it can be the difference if the players on both teams are comparable. But I don’t buy that it’s worth 50 points a game, but that’s where a person has to go to try and claim that Petrino recruited well.

If coaching really matters that much, then how do you explain the virtually endless list of winning coaches losing big. If someone could explain that to me, then I could be persuaded to change my opinion. So far, nobody has been able to.

It’s 100% on CBB. Something EVERYONE forgets, is last year during our “slow start,” people were complaining about Kirkland playing at OT. The knock on him, ever since HS, was he doesn’t have a good first step. When CBB and Pittman were asked about putting him back at guard and let someone else play tackle (like Brian Wallace, the HS AA who is starting now), their response is the backups weren’t SEc caliber. Is that Petrino’s fault or Bielema’s?

If you can’t recruit SEC caliber players, coaching won’t ever matter. My point is Petrino recruited SEC caliber talent. JLS recruited SEC caliber talent (AA, HH, Ellis, Committed to him). CBB his first year, got some guys from Fl, but he’s turned his back on FL and said Texas is where it’s at. Fl produces good players (Collins, Kirkland). Now, per himself the backups last year weren’t SEC Caliber, they’re starting this year. Who fault is it?

This was supposed to be a year with a great defensive line. I think we have some good/great linemen, but I think the coaches are not doing their job. Time for a shakeup?

This is not a loss. It was taken out to the woodshed and whipped hard! In a coaches 4th year, this should not be happening. All year we have questioned the OL. All year teams have run on us and some have questioned the DL and LB’s. We were criticized for those observations.

If you think this was just coaching then you live in an alternate universe. We were outclassed by superior athletes and they just lined up and played smashmouth football and ran it down our throats. As bad as Auburn was last year, they were able to recruit well even with a down year. Ark on the other hand has been showing improvement and we still can’t recruit the players we need to compete in the SEC West. I don’t care what we build, who we have as coach or what our record is, we will never be able to get the players that it will take to win the West. I’m 62 and I’ve stopped believing in Santa Claus.

Agreed. A lot of DC’s at P5 programs around this country would be fired tomorrow after a defensive performance like that. A 56-3 loss with the most (544 rushing yards) ever given up in the program’s over 100 year history. I mean that was a pitiful legendary bad stinking defensive performance. Just terrible!

I agree that what’s going on now is on CBB. The responsibility lies with who built the team. It was Petrino who put together the team that was non competitive the two years after he was let go. I don’t consider those 2 awful seasons to be the result of SEC caliber recruiting. It’s CBB’s responsibility now though, since this is the team he’s put together.

It counts as ONE loss, doesn’t it? Be it one-point loss or 53-points loss, it’s the same as far as record is concerned.
The Hogs still has a chance to go 4-0, all winnable games (no more A&M/Alabama/Auburn), and an easy Bowl win to get to 10-wins season. GHG.

The unwillingness of hog fans to condemn crap coaching is disturbing. Always an excuse. Recruiting is NOT THE ISSUE here. A good coach will get more out of mediocre players than a crap coach will. Alabama isn’t good because they’re Alabama. They’re good because they have a good coach. Administration doesn’t do anything about losers like Bert, Robb and Kurt because there’ll be a legion of losers hand wringing about recruiting. If the fan base had more “I want to win” then Jeff Long might want to hire winning coaches instead of punching checks. LSU got pissed when their coach sucked and he’s gone. He won a national championship. Arkansas would’ve built him a statue. Arkansas fans sicken me by being just happy with not being as good as powerhouses like Boise St. and Western Michigan.

We will have a new DC next year. Need a new strength and conditioning coach too.

We lost because we played like under Petrino on offense !!!, and the defense sucks because Petrino built a bad reputation at Arkansas. CBB needs his players… like QB Wilson, RB Montee Ball… on offense, and JJ Watt… on defense. Give him more time

Been saying strength coach should go. A sizeable amount of these injuries we’ve been experiencing can be placed at his feet.

You tell me when we can expect these wins to come rolling in. When players FALL into Bert’s lap? JJ was a walk on. Wilson was a grad transfer.

I don’t think that our coaches should go but I think that we can lay this stinker at their feet. It was clear that Auburn had found some things in our tape that we could not adjust to. I’m sure it was the same thing that allowed Bama and A&M to run it right up the middle and it is frustrating that throughout the entire game there was no adjustment that could be made on the fly. This is the kind of thing that takes you back to the drawing board and asking serious questions about your fundamentals. Hopefully with two weeks we will be a better team - this is going to be a true measure of the coaches. If things are the same after two weeks of study then there may need to be change within the defensive ranks. The DL and linebackers looked pathetic - it’s hard to say anything about the secondary given the low number of passes but I’ve been impressed with them this year more than last.

We also need to figure out why our guys are always breaking their feet and require surgery. That’s still not normal.

I’m in disbelief, disgusted and after 57 years of being a “win lose or draw” rabid razorback fan, I have never witnessed a beat down as those kids took at Auburn.
The defense did not have a clue and have been that way all year! GIVE me a break! Go and get a real O-line coach, great day!!! The defensive line needs the Denmark kid back. Get real!!! You got a beat down for allowing our team to go to the middle of the field on the Auburn emblem. All that did is emotionally supercharge the Auburn players. Although they really didn’t need it because the Arkansas coaches got way out coached and the sore spot for Malzahn, lose it!
You have had the support of the media supporting You, talking up Bret, it has not helped in recruiting and has made you complacent, with your reality show!!!

WPS…I’m glad the team will have some time off… but the coaches need to go on an apology tour thru the state.

LaHog “a little less talk and a lot more action”

Man for man defensively they have better talent than we do. This Arkansas team has been scraping by in wins practically every week. There is nothing that speak dominance in any aspect of the game for this team. They are out classed in talent in SEC west. I said that last week too. You can’t coach up kids who don’t have the talent to out excute talented players who do excute. We won last week due to Ole Miss not executing. You can’t legally get high end players in effective numbers to Fayetteville to win a Natty. You just have to wait for star alignment and take advantage when it does. That’s the bane of Arkansas football; I don’t care who the coach is. Why people can’t accept that is beyond me.

1 - Yep

Nail on the head. Anyone who has played football should understand that even though football is a physical collision sport, it is still 75-80% mental. All the tough games this team has had wears on you. Auburn was all over this game since last years game. Nothing went right for the Hogs & they were not ready for the gaunlet they were going to face. That lay’s squarley on the coaches, but also the players have to respeond to the coaching. I believe this team goes into a needed bye week & comes back strong to finish the season strong. No easy games, and they better really be ready for LSU. They have ther mojo going strong now & has as much or more talent than anyone. They took it to Ole Miss last night. On another note I thought it was kind of Bush League of Malzahn runnning up the score when it was obvious the Hogs were dead. So much that if some day he has an opportunity to be Head Hog it blocks him from the job. I did not get to watch the game, but on radio it sounded to me like they were running it up. I hope Bama destroys them in the Iron Bowl. One good note is at least Bama out classed A&M yesterday. I do not like Bama, but I absolutely hate A&M. Now Auburn is a close 2nd.
