Pant Seat Adjustments and Playing to Win

One legitimate complaint involving Bret Bielema and company, in my opinion, is that they seem somewhat incapable of making halftime adjustments and even much less so should anything actually be needed on the fly and during the midst of a ballgame. You can throw around buzz words like “grind” and “strain” all summer long, but in game and halftime adjustments by a coaching staff are frequently even more important than grinding and/or straining for four quarters by a player.

A possibly related and even bigger question, in my mind, is whether the staff has developed a mentality of playing not to lose these games, instead of playing to win them. Given recent history, Kevin Sumlin will play to win on Saturday. Most of Bielema’s contemporaries in the SEC will do likewise.

Woo Pig.
