You are again wrong. Instead of standing up to his bosses, he “packed up his bags and left” (your words). That’s quitting.
I think BP is a GREAT coach. 10X better the CBB, but you’re (and most others) forgetting that at the time of his wreck, we had SEVERAL football players suspended for stealing from other UA students and BP was trying to get their suspensions lifted. That alone should have been enough to fire him. Plus, there were several incidents prior to the motorcycle incident that showed he didn’t care what anyone thought, as long as he won, he and his team were untouchable (kinda sounds like Briles, someone else this board has gushed over many times).
Now, what happens if we are 6-0 and Louisville is 5-1, are you still gonna sing his praises, or are you gonna jump ship? I have a really good guess which one.
Frank Broyles is gone; he’s not coming back. Lou Holtz is gone;he’s not coming back. Houston Dale Nutt is gone; he’s not coming back… Harley Motocross Petrino is gone; he’s not coming back. Get over it.
I think he is trying to make a point or case that Jeff Long should be fired because he does not feel like Petrino should be gone? If true his plight is still current.
In my view as one that believed other punishment would have suitable for CBP, I concur that he is fired and Long gone. Don’t dislike Long. I think the suggestion that Long be fired is about as bad as anyone wanting to see CBP fired back then. It does not matter WHY they believe he should be fired because it was Long’s choice.
Strangely I spent years getting heat saying similar about Frank Broyles NOT hiring CMA. We were told over and over it was not going to happen, CMA would never be in Arkansas and even if he wanted to, Arkansas could not buy him out and pay that salary to beat out Mizzou. Well presto a new AD Long anxious to restore glory days made a way. CMA did return to the smite of many. CBP case is different, he will never come back, PERIOD. He has no need to, making more money now, and is not playing in the SEC.
One other point, you named 3 former coaches that all did a very good job for my alma mater. I loved them all, but you didn’t name them all, only the very good ones, who is to say that if CBB is ever successful here, that his departure will not turn sour as the other three have? History has tendency to repeat.
I end my rant saying no one should be fired or should have been fired. Last thing I wan to see is new AD to take over, a new head coach etc. I just wish to see CBB win so trhe heat cools down a tad.
HogAuthority, I have no bone to pick with you. I differ with you in regard to your past desire to retain BP in the midst of the conflagration, at the height of the bombshell media frenzy; but I don’t demean or repudiate your right to your opinion.
In several of these BP idolatry threads, I have merely essayed to douse the belated impotent ardor of those who appear to still be foaming at the mouth in their consuming quest to return BP to The University Of Arkansas, thus ostensibly restoring and reinstating The Razorbacks’ ONLY hope of ever attaining national prominence (to hear them tell it).
Bret Bielema is an exemplary man and a very fine coach. I would not countenance a straight-across-the-board trade of Bielema for Petrino, even were that hypothetically possible. I’m happy to have Bielema. I assume that Louisville is happy to have Petrino. I’m happy for Louisville to have Petrino. Should anyone feel that their chance for happiness and the possibilities for national championship quest vindication are solely wrapped up in the superlative exploits of Petrino-On-A-Pedestal. - - - - then I would cordially advise them to invest in a one way ticket to Louisville. I truly believe that to be the crux of the case in a nutshell.

I will immediately QUIT this site if you can cite one post or word where I have stated, suggested or implied that “Bret Bielema is not an exemplary man and a very fine coach”? Please don’t broad brush me as I have nothing but for respect for you as my fellow elder; and from what I have gathered from your posts thus far.
In my book, this is and will never be about a CBP / CBB comparison. The two coaches have nothing to do with each other. CBB is merely the man that is trying to restore the national relevance that CBP once created. Until that happens; I find it hypocritical for any Razorback fan to not appreciate what CBP did despite his heinous conflagration. In the court of public debate, there should always be two opinions; both should be respected with malice toward none.
I could remain SILENT on the BP after-the-fact issue; I can never again, however, respect the MAN HIMSELF - - - not your pertinent OPINION of the highly esteemed coach and the flawed character of the man. The past is history; what was done is irrevocably done. You and others choose to disregard a certain element of BP’s amalgamated makeup as non consequential and irrelevant. A prodigious lineup of silver tongued orators could not - and would not - ever persuade me to do so.
I’m reminded of the woman who - when queried as to whether or not she was a virgin - immediately quipped, “Well, NOT YET; - - but I’m still hoping”.
As far as I’m concerned, The Judgement Ship has sailed from the now defunct Petrino Harbor in Fayetteville Sound, - - and will not - and SHOULD NOT - dock there ever again.

They are lucky to have you and they are lucky to have that pillar of society of a coach. I want to win every game we play. But, I’d rather have 8-9 wins and players and coaches that seem to have some integrity. I don’t care for win at all cost coaches or coaches that yell and scream about every little thing and throw coffee pots at office staff because the coffee isn’t just right. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I could have sworn I saw him on the Zapruder film. I think he was even lurking in Ford’s theatre and has the keys to Area 51. I also heard he is the one that faked the moon landing in his basement.
Bobby Allen is not connected to those people. If he was, this board would be swamped with paid governmental shills. They would point out typos, call everybody with opposing views idiots and tap their phones. I have been on those sites, I can talk smack with anybody and read up on those subjects and became a very formidable debater. I became the proverbial too good for my own good. The computer hackers came into my Google/YouTube account one morning. I could not access my g-mail account for about three hours, a strange link just kept popping up. My computer disc burner started making a strange clicking noise and no longer worked and has never worked since. Now everything I post on YouTube is only visible to me, no one else sees it, I can verify that by changing browsers. My YouTube account is shot. You do not want to mess with those people unless you are a high-skilled computer hacking geek.
