The drop back pocket passing Johnny Unitas part of that equation sure is. Time possession football is archaic, a perception of weakness in theory. A totally predictable never blitzing defense is also archaic beyond being conservative. A ram it down the throat running scheme is also ridiculous when it is beyond a team’s capability as appears to be the case with the Hogs this year. This all can be easily viewed as an overriding abhorrence by a football program to any type evolutionary change.

To me, it looks like we play a modern pro style offense. I don’t know how drop back pocket passing is archaic. Are you saying that unless you have an offense that features the qb running a lot that you have an archaic offense?

If ones perception is modern or archaic is not the real issue. It is still the same type offense our fathers and some cases here our grandfathers watched Johnny Unitas engineer. This same nostalgic offense in a world of hurry up spreads. Bielema needs to start winning with it like he did in the B1G or else reasonably change. He should be held accountable as some here do not seem to want to do. 7 or 8 win seasons will not be indefinitely tolerated. Not my decision, it is the fan base.

Our offense is by far different from what our fathers and grandfathers watched and even what Johnny Unitas engineered back in that time. Maybe your not very old and/or have not been a student of the game and its evolution in the past 3-4 decades. I would bet if you took a look at the Enos playbook or any teams pro style offense playbook, you would walk away scratching your head, and that just from the literature on the surface, nevermind the intangibles, audibles, formation adjustments, defensive reads, etc. done on the fly by the QB, RB, WR, Oline both before and after the snap of the ball.
What the spread offense has done is basically predetermine the play prior to snapping the ball, the HUNH the same, but just without a huddle to get a play off before the defense can adjust or sub. But the play has very little variation prior or after snap of the ball. Thus amazing college spread players across the board struggle at the next level. Because they have to think on the fly instead of being a robot.

I guess we should just forget wins & losses and consider how we are preparing young men for Pro football. That and molding good citizens for the future are more important than SEC wins. Bielema is also a nice guy that would be great to have a beer with. How much more do you want to beat around the bush with this type condescending tripe?

Bielema is on a ticking clock with a horrible O-Line performances like that attached to a subsequential corresponding blow-out loss. This team will do good to go 4-4 in the SEC. Bielema better change something, he hasn’t got a lot these type seasons left. That O-Line appears to peg him as a poor recruiter. Something very hard to correct.
