I’m as big a Hog fan as any one, but if you look at our body of work thus far it tells a pretty clear story.
We have struggled in conference play to pull out single digit wins at home, one OT win on the road at Georgia and the other road losses have all been double digit losses. The way I see it we’ve had 3 high quality wins this season, Oklahoma, Tennessee and at Georgia. Missouri and Oklahoma State while wins at home were down to the last possessions, not impressive by any means.
Win over UCONN doesn’t mean much this year because they aren’t good at 11-10 on the season. However, a blowout loss on the road at Houston, whom certain persons said was just a fluke game and Houston wasn’t really that good but just shot hot that game were wrong, same with Auburn not being all that good either, wrong again.
Folks need to wake up to the fact that this Razorback team has too many holes in their roster to finish much better than .500 in the SEC. I’m sick and tired of folks crying about the refs beating us, sure we’ve had some poorly officiated games, but really good teams are able to overcome those things.
So, now we have another double digit blowout loss on the road in conference I just don’t see how anyone can look at this team and see that they will do much better on the road for the remainder of the season and don’t forget we have UK, Auburn, South Carolina and a return date with the Aggies at BWA.
I repeat that we are not much better than a .500 SEC team with the current roster.
Coach Anderson had better harken back to what UNLV great Larry Johnson told Nolan during a game at BWA between #1 ranked UNLV and #2 ranked Hogs, “ Coach you’d better go get yourself some men.”
The fact that we have won some games with horrible officiating shows we are a good team. Win by 1 or 30, winning is winning. Good teams find a way to win and we can and have.
I’m telling you, we win when A&M comes to Arkansas because they aren’t that good, they just got extremely lucky for a few minutes.
I think we even have a great shot to beat LSU Saturday.
Miss St won by three points on a night when CJ Jones started his slump, Barford went 4/15 from the field and the refs gave them 40 FT’s to our 12. I know some like to complain about road losses, but don’t say we lost all road games by double digits. That’s just not true.
General if you are not in politics you should be the way you can put a positive spin on anything!! Unless MA gets sick and can’t coach the rest of the year, the Hogs will not make the Big Dance! The Hogs are one of the worst prepared teams I’ve seen in awhile. The lack of energy, no offensive plan, leave your man open defense, fouling 30 feet from the basket and just plain lazy play all goes back to coaching or lack of coaching.
I’m not spinning anything. There were positives in the game, but the fact is we got blitzed to start the second half and it cost us.
SMH! Ok, why won’t we make the dance?
What showed you we weren’t prepared? Where was the lack of energy? How do you know what the offensive plan was? Open on defense?
Virtually everything you said was wrong, but I’d like for you to explain exactly what you saw in detail. If you can’t(and we both know you can’t) then stop posting this nonsense. Plain and simple, we lost, it is what it is. A&M got hot at the right moment and pushed the scored to where we couldn’t close the gap.
OMG, I didn’t mention The Miss.St. Road loss, a game with horrible officiating like you said and we still should’ve won but didn’t.
So, tell me guys what you see the conference record being when all is said and done, I’m curious to know? Someone recently said on this forum that they thought the Hogs could win all ten remaining games and I find that to be a dillusional viewpoint based on what this team has shown us this season.
I think if they finish the conference 10-8 that is the ceiling and I won’t be shocked if they finish 8-10 or .500.
Whatever the record, at the end of the season we will probably be disappointed because the hype was too much for the reality for this team.
If they find a way to sqeak into the NCAA Tournament, which I don’t believe at this point is a given do you honesestly think they get past the first weekend?
Actually, their fate could come down to how far they advance in the SEC Tournament.
They simply have too many flaws to win consistently against real good teams.
Rebounding, Free Throw shooting, inconsistency shooting, a couple of guys don’t understand their role is not to shoot jumpers, laspses in sustaining energy, don’t defend the 3 point line, not enough “MEN” in the front court.
When all is done I hope they prove me wrong and they finish strong, but my gut and eyes don’t tell me that they can.
I think we finish 9-9, but just so you know, 8-10, 9-9, or 10-8 will get us in the dance. Finishing 4-6 (counting last night) may be the worst we can finish and make the dance. 5-5 (again that includes last night) or better should lock us in.
I’m still waiting for your reasoning. Again, we both know you can’t, you’re just spouting off. I’m just tired of the same complaints from people like you, when you can’t logically back them up.
I could say I’m tired of people defending MA when they can’t see the forest for the trees but I won’t. Everyone has their opinion and I respect yours even though I don’t agree with it. I just want the Hogs to play up to the potential of their talent!!!
Let me be clear. If you don’t like the way Anderson coaches, recruits, makes adjustments, his starting lineups, etc. that’s fine. I don’t care that you or anyone else has a problem with him. My issue is when anybody makes claims that are patently false. I agree with you that we aren’t consistently playing to our potential and Anderson as the leader has to shoulder some of the blame and I promise you he feels that way himself. And I mean, I GUARANTEE you he feels that way. I’m just done with the constant platitudes without logical reasoning about Anderson.
