The “what coach is going to come here” excuse is still around?? Y’all that is the dumbest excuse in the book.
There are lots of quality young up and coming coaches out there and some veteran coaches that would love to have the opportunity. It’s not about what coach we could get right now it’s about the current coach we have that is an embarrassment. He can’t recruit, he can’t in game manage to save his life, and he runs a dinosaur system. It doesn’t work anymore against good teams!!! We can figure out who to bring in down road what we DO KNOW FOR SURE is our current isn’t getting it done and we will never do much under Coach A. Get him out of here.
And for y’all worried about the recruiting class ranked #1 in 2018, it’s also 2017 right now. Once all the super top guys pick, we’ll drop out of Top 10 anyways and good chance new coach could get several to stay too.
The problem with Anderson, he’s not playing the style of ball that he is suppose to be all about. When he is resorting to playing a 2-3 soft zone, there’s a problem. CoachB is similar when he gets away from smash mouth ball and starts throwing it all over the yard.
It would not be smart to fire Anderson. Our ranking are about equal with his recruiting ranking and his recruiting is certainly as good as most SEC coaches could do at Arkansas. That make Anderson an average SEC coach.
Long is not Frank Broyles. Unlike Broyles, if Long makes a coaching hire mistake, he is not going to quickly replace the coach. Long would not have hired a young Eddie Sutton, nor would he have hired a young Nolan and it is highly unlikely he can hire a great established coach. Therefore, whomever Long hired would not be an improvement over Anderson.
That said, whether or not to fire and replace Anderson should not be based on incoming classes. The ranking of the 2017 class is the middle of the SEC and a little above average for Arkansas so a new coach will not do much worse. And, the 2018 class is meaningless. Whatever team gets the first player, even a 3*, is #1 until other teams start getting players.
This is a crazy statement. There are several power 5 school that wish they had a coach as talented as Mike Anderson.
It does not help the program any at all for post like this. As matter of fact all it could do is hurt. Recruits get on this board. Think before you get diarrhea of the mouth! NCAA tournament bound team and this is the way a fan rewards a coach.
