Imagine having a place where Razorback news would come in, and people would go there to see the latest news and discuss it. Then one day the place was closed down, and the regulars were told to go out in the woods away from where the news was coming in, and maybe someone might mention something they had heard for who ever showed up to talk about it. This was considered by those who shut down the news meet up place an improvement. The conversation is easier to follow out in the woods they claim. However, the problem is that there is very little conversation to be had, as most of the regulars don’t want to go out to the woods to talk about very little, as it is away from where the news is. The regulars are upset as their meet up place which they had enjoyed going to for years has been suddenly taken away from them. People say bye to those they had talked to and argued with and listened to for years. So unnecessary it seems. That’s what’s happened at WHS. And right when football season started too. The very time people want to talk about the Hogs the most. Either let the people come out of the virutal woods and back to their meet up place or at least explain the real reason for shutting it down. Don’t insult their intelligence though by telling them it is better.
It is actually a toss up with me concerning this site and the previous one. However I have thousands of posts in my past on a board type as this. Although this board is exactly the same structurally it is missing some options on other Scout boards. I don’t know if they were unavailable or just removed. Anyhow I can see where dissenters are coming from. This board is removed from the articles and very much a different posting set-up. Also many very knowledgeable posters from the old board either never have posted here or just made a brief appearance to then exit. The junk poster are all here but one. All and all, this change appears off to a poor start. It may improve over time. Hopefully so.
The board being removed from the articles is the key flaw in this set up. The TCU game would have had hundreds of posts, and the articles afterward would have had hundreds of posts as well. Instead, not much was said about it. The CBP fans don’t seem to have missed a beat, as they seem to be mostly the only ones who have been posting. So it’s mostly a board of CBP fans telling us how horrible Arkansas is for something that happened five years ago. That seems to be most of what’s been accomplished by the change. A Razorback board mostly promoting the Louisville coach and bashing the Hogs coach.
Why can’t there be both? The woods for those who like it, and the previous way for most everyone else. What happens when there’s some big recruiting news? Is anybody going to start a thread? The conversation was started automatically the previous way. Many things that would have been discussed won’t even be brought up now.
Right on all counts. The TCU game result would have been a huge event on the old board and was just a peep here. This board is going to have to cut out these Petrino Gone Wild capers or this board will swivel up to nobody on here but Petrino fans. That content makes it easy to forget for most normal Hog fans, they do not want to re-live 2012 every time they punch up this site. It is just lunacy.
From reading your posts I can tell that you prefer a higher and more sophisticated use of the English language. A wordsmith of whom linguistic communication is an art of high quality and vintage. Something seldom seen from those of us more accustomed to a more common or folksy vernacular.
freeharmonics, my somewhat overblown, flowery prosaic posts are submitted merely as a distinctive alternative in stylistic discourse. It is an assumed manner that is rendered simply for the novelty factor. I am well aware of the fact that pseudo eloquence is not - in and of itself - indicative of surpassing intelligence. I’m just a regular guy exercising a bit of artistic license here. It is not my purpose to demean, belittle, infuriate or alienate anyone. My intent is simply to imprint a bit of character identification upon the tenor and timbre of my postings. I’ve been accused of a number of things over the course of my 70 years of life thus far; “artful linguistic communication of high quality and vintage”, however, is not noticeably prevalent among them.
If you - or anyone else in residence here upon this fine board - are offended, irritated or chagrined by the verbosity of my embellished oratory, I will apologetically abandon it. That’s a bona fide promise.
I thoroughly enjoy your posts, Silverfox, and I have grown to like this forum as well. Change is sometimes difficult to accept, but I have found that patience and a little understanding can go a long way. Woo Pig…
