Can someone please explain to me why several of our players spend so much time with their hands deep in their shorts moving around like they are trying to adjust the tuck of their jerseys and then seemingly folding over the top inch or so of their shorts, unfolding it and then repeat...often continuing for 8-10 seconds. It is usually done during timeouts and as the players are walking back onto the court. Theiro is one of the worst. I think it was against Georgia where I saw him looking down and making the "adjustments" for about 6 to 8 seconds and not finishing up until a few seconds AFTER the ball had been inbounded underneath the basket. Are the uniforms really that ill-fitting or uncomfortable? Or, is this just OCD behavior? And, Yes, it would still annoy me, even if we were undefeated.

alum…It must be similar to a golfer standing over the ball and adjusting his grip for 15 seconds or a batter in baseball leaving one foot out of the box and messing with his grip and re-wrapping his wrists between each pitch. Mostly a mental thing with some kind of green light feeling when everything is perfect.
As good an explanation as any I suppose.
Have you noticed that teams from other schools do that too? Also slapping the bottom of their shoes.
Pants on the ground. Pants on the ground. Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground. Just couldn’t resist that thought.
I’ve seen the tucking of the jersey into the pants and folding the waist band over many times this year, mostly when the player is getting ready to shoot free throws. I have always assumed it had something to do with a ref telling the player to tuck his jersey. I’ve seen players slap the soles of their shoes for many years, mostly when entering the game from the bench area and have always assumed it was to make sure there was no dust or dirt there that might cause a slip on the court.
I played high school ball and that’s why we did it. Your hands are a little sweaty and a quick wipe across the sole would get the dust and even dry your hands a little.
Jock itch, maybe?
Haven’t really noticed, but they probably do the same thing. The players uniforms are usually saturated with sweat with no dry spot on them. So the “slapping” of the shoes is actually. going to the only dry spot. available to get sweat off of the fingers/hands. That ritual has a purpose.
