39 for the year, so far!
This is insane. We are so locked in.
Its not really fair. But I’m ok with it.
This is what a vaunted offense looks like!
#11 just got robbed!
unreal!
Hitting Championship caliber pitching wins Championships.
If you can’t hit you can’t play.
they have retreated some on the bat restrictions?
Nope bats have been the same the last 4-5 years. They balanced them a little better after the first year. But the big difference was that three years ago they raised the seams of the baseball. It’s not nearly as hot as the major league ball, but it’s got raised seams that spin a little more and that allows it to fly higher.
The main thing that has happened for Arkansas, there is better hitting. These guys are much better hitters.
What you have to understand is that the Hogs led the SEC in home runs last year. A lot of that power is back and the newcomers (Heston Kjerstad and Casey Martin) can hit. Eric Cole is really good, too. He’s the guy most here wanted on the bench about this time last year. Van Horn kept playing him. He was 7 for 16 this weekend and is edging close to .400.
What I noticed when I watched the 1st Texas game on the SEC Network is that our lineup is filled with bigger, more athletic looking players. The past few years we only had a couple of guys who looked like they could pound the ball. We finally have a lineup that looks like the kind of team LSU fields most every year.
Dave Van Horn is my kind of coach. Of course, just about anybody would say that, but he is just about as good as it gets in college baseball. He deserves to win an SEC Championship, a trip to Omaha and a College World Series win. For now, I would just like a Western Division title. Maybe he will get the big one before he retires.

[/quote]I get tickled when I see Kjerstad at the plate. When you look at his picture on the big screen, he looks like a young high school boy. But when you look at him at the plate, he looks like a full grown man. (I sit behind the plate on the first base side, so I see him from the back.)
