Wonderful news about Pittman

Great that he’s feeling better and will probably return soon. And how refreshing that someone doesn’t feel the world revolves around them (even though Arkansas football-wise, it no doubt does). And humbly expresses thanks. Did we get lucky or what?

Just one question. In addition to quarantining for a certain number of days, doesn’t he also have to test negative before he returns? And that hasn’t happened yet, right?

He’s probably getting tested today or tomorrow. Yes I understand he has to have a negative test before he returns

I don’t know the protocol followed by the SEC regarding the returning of players and coaches after being positive for Covid-19, but the CDC guidelines do not require retesting to return. To return, by CDC guidelines:

  • At least 10 days* have passed since symptom onset and
  • At least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
  • Other symptoms have improved.

Requiring a negative retest prior to returning could delay the return significantly, since some people have continued to have a positive PCR for weeks after the initial infection.
