Muss seems to like a short rotation; he might stretch it to nine guys for foul trouble but that’s about the limit except in blowouts. But maybe he might keep five of them in the 20-25 range and the odd man out gets the scraps. Desi was the one who got the scraps in the second half of the season.
I suspect we will start the season with 12 or 13 scholarship players and all of them believe they will make the 7or 8 man rotation. And they all will have opportunities to prove themselves.
I watched this video of highlights from the past season…
It’s easy to forget that many players who were not in the rotation at the end of the season played well and made big plays earlier in the season. Vance, Connor, Desi, Ethan, and KK all had memorable plays during the year. Muss does a great job at putting the pieces together as the season progresses.
I posted earlier that Baylor gave us a blueprint to follow, get you 3,4 dual threat guys and you will be almost unstoppable,so many weapons that 2,3 of them are going to be on.I really hope we bring in shooters an teach them defense.
We seem to put all the confirmed and expected grad transfers automatically into starter or top 8 roles. But shouldn’t we expect at least one of them to be this coming season’s Cylla or V Jackson? That’s happened in both of Muss’ 2 years.
Conversely, who of the non grad transfer newbies or injured (Moore, KK, Mawein, or Johnson) will be the top “8/starter” party crasher that Devo became?
I have no idea who the next Cylla or V Jackson will be, out of Lykes, Toney, Umude, and Gardner, but I think the least likely would be Lykes.
I think perhaps the most likely next Devo would be either KK or Mawein.
I would be surprised if we hadn’t gotten in touch with Kessler, but I don’t think it went any farther than that. A lot of people think he goes to Gonzaga. Saturday Down South says three SEC schools are in the running, but we’re not one of them: Kentucky, Auburn and Tennessee. He considered Auburn strongly before signing with UNC.
David Okwera, not immediat help but will before his first year is up. 6-11 who defends, rebounds and shoots outside and handles ball if needed. That would be a topper because he is unknown to recruiting services but known to all coaches, please let DP be our ace in the hold. Gotta keep a spot for him if he wants it…
