The 2023 season shall be very interesting. Hogs have a very (again) challenging schedule. However, I have the impression Sam was greatly disappointed about a lot of stuff from last season and has made several changes to right the ship. I think we shall see Sam’s competitive fire this year more than ever before.

Not a bad O/U, but I certainly hope we top that. I’ll be disappointed with anything under 9 wins. Need 8 at least.

Also, you can wager on a couple of the Hogs games already.
Hogs are +12.5 points at LSU, and +20 at Bama right now.
Will be interesting to see how those lines change between now and game week
7.5 was about what I was thinking; 8 wins would be 4-4 if we run the table in NC, 5-3 if we slip up against BYU or somewhere. I think we’ll be better, but it might not show up as much on the left side of the hyphen. I doubt we’ll be favored in more than 8 games, if it’s even that high, for instance.
I expected 6 1/2. I believe that our 7 1/2 is due to KJ returning. Bama at “only” 10 1/2, is due to the loss of Young. I think it’s a really good (for Vegas) opening number. If it had been 6 1/2, I would have definitely bet the over.
If I decide to bet, I would still bet the over at 7 1/2, but I wouldn’t be nearly as confident. If KJ stays healthy, I think we win 8 with a good shot at 9, but an injury riddled season like last year and we may end up with 6 or 7 wins.
I think Criswell gives us a good shot if KJ goes down, certainly more reliable than Hornsby was. Injuries on the lines would concern me more.

I met with Sam Pittman recently for our Hawgs Illustrated football preview. He really likes how the team has taken to the coordinators and other new assistant coaches, including the strength staff. He said there is a good feeling in the building about this team.

I think 7.5 is fair. I do feel this team can be a 9 win team if we can avoid the injury bug and KJ takes a step forward in his overall game. I am cautiously optimistic that our D will be improved after moving to a 4-3 and the gains from roster over haul. I am concerned about cornerbacks, especially with McAdoo’s injury. Prayers that he recovers fully and is able to have a normal life, with or without football.
