Win over Hogs would "put TCU in National Picture"

. . . according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Kind of a backhand compliment, I suppose. It also begs the question, does a Hog win do the same thing for us?

I get it. It’s written from a Dallas perspective, but I loathe articles that ignore the other teams stakes, ignores the other team’s aspirations.

Arkansas has more to lose in this game than TCU. If we win, it’s just another SEC team doing what they are suppose to. If we lose, we’re looked upon as a lower tier SEC team. Winning will do a whole lot for this team’s confidence.

Take it with a grain of salt. The hogs are the step children of the mighty SEC. The SEC network slams the hogs everyday so this should not suprise any of us. At least this is a Big 12 connected paper.
Look at this the hogs beat Florida and TCU last year and both of those teams are ranked right now! TCU being favored and the game being played in Fayetteville is also a slap in the face. Earn the win by playing and don’t expect any headlines for doing so. That’s what being a hog fan is all about.

I don’t take it as a slap in the face. If by beating Arkansas, TCU would be in the national picture, then that means whoever wrote the article thinks Arkansas is the door to national prominence. Isn’t that what we want?
The fact that TCU is ranked and we’re not is the basic reason for the Frogies being favored. Again, not a slight. Hogs in the last have been so up-and-down that just when people think they have turned the corner, they get smacked in the face again. Hogs have to win this game to earn some of the fans’ and national commentators’ faith again.
