why does Koch stand so far off the plate??

I don’t get it! he has no chance whatsoever of getting his barrel on the outside part of the plate! and to make things worse he is trying to pull the ball.the only people that can hit that far off stride into the the ball and he don’t

but he can hit the inside pitch!you make a mistake he’s ready on the inner half
