Who you got between these teams?

Although, Arkansas still has work to do, right now we’re safely in the field. There’s 4 other SEC teams left that could potentially play themselves in. Do you think any of them can play themselves in? If so, who?

Vanderbilt, 16-13, RPI 48
Ole Miss, 18-11, RPI 69
Georgia, 17-12, RPI 55
Alabama, 16-12, RPI 87

Vanderbilt would be my favorite. They have 2 great opportunities ahead @KY and then home against Florida, and they already have the #2 SOS. I think if they split those games, and win 2-3 games in the tournament they could make it in that way. Or if they win the next 2 games, I think that probably gets them in, barring they avoid another bad loss in the SEC tournament.

Georgia would be next on my list. They have Auburn at home, which won’t move the needle, but do have a big opportunity against us on the road. I think they need to win both of these games, plus win 2-3 games in the tournament, and that would give them some consideration. They currently have the #14 SOS.

Ole Miss has @Alabama and home against South Carolina. They probably need both of these games, plus at least 2-3 in the tournament as well.

I think Alabama is pretty much done, they would need to win the remainder of their games, plus probably make it to the SEC championship game just to get back into last 4 in range.

Vandy’s defense has improved tremendously in February, and they are a quality offensive team. The Dores are playing so well. It wouldn’t surprise me for them to win at UK, who may be ripe for a letdown. I give them a reasonable chance to be the fifth SEC team.

Vanderbilt is playing better than anyone in the conference right now. Their SOS will get them in if they split 1-1 in these next 2
Kentucky will be the one ripe to pick off for them.
If we go into Florida and come out of gator nation with the win then it would mane easier on Vandy to go in and win. It would be funny for Florida to loose 3 in a row.
They do need 2 wins in the SEC tournament. It will be way outside the box because no team has ever gotten into the with an at large bid with more than 14 losses. They have 13 now.
20-14 I think gets them in. 20-15 is a stretch but this year possible.
Ole Miss could fet to 20 wins but weak resume. Probably not much worse than a host of teams that will get in.
Georgia I just can’t imagine but it’s not impossible.
My thought for the SEC. 5 teams do get in but naming the 5th team is tough.
Kentucky
Florida
Arkansas
South Carolina
? Vandy. Ole Miss ? Georgia.
I’d like to see any of these in a playin game in Dayton aginst Illinois State.

If Vandy wins their next two they are in. 13 losses (magic number is 14). They play KY and Florida. Win both and they will have a 32 RPI and #1 SOS. They’ll be in. Plus they should win the 1st game of the SECT, win two there and it’s not even close. The other teams you mentioned have to win the SECT. Closest team was Ole Miss, if they would have won out (counting yesterday) they would have had a 58 RPI and a 58 SOS. Hard to move them up without three wins in the tourney. Bama’ RPI would have been 78. Didn’t check GA’s but that would require us to lose. I still think we need 1 more win.

Edit: If Ga beats us RPI 43, SOS 21, if we beat them RPI 53, SOS 21. Either way they’ll have to win in the SECT. Also, if we lose out RPI 40, SOS 67. We have to win one more. A loss in the SECT would drop us below that 41 RPI number

My observations without any regard to their resume:

Bama - Just dreadful. A couple talented young guards, but mostly offensively challenged. No speed, no outside shooting. They have a lot of big long armed big men, but none of them can make a play outside of 4 feet. Agree they are done in terms of NCAA tournament.

Georgia - With Maten out its a 1 man team with Frazier. He is a mini-version of Iverson with his quickness, dribbling and drives to the hoop. Ogbeide is a serviceable big man, and there are a couple of athletic big guards, but they are really short on depth. NIT bound IMO.

Ole Miss - Has some good pieces in Saiz inside and some talented back court players. I’m surprised they have struggled as much as they have. Have the talent, but probably need to make the SEC finals for an at large.

Vandy - Short on depth, but good balance throughout its staring 5. Like the others, short on depth, but they do a good job of controlling tempo. They have the look of an NCAA tournament team to me, but with their last 2 games against Flo and UK it’s unlikely they make it.

I think for Vandy to make it they have to win both this week and their opener in the SEc tourney! Winning the tourney I dont deem possible for them for depth reasons by the time they meet the up and down the court teams of Ark, Florida, and Kentucky in the tourney, they wont have the legs to make those three point shots and defend! You know if Arkansas beat Florida by 15 and Florida does lose 2 more this week, Ark. steals the 2 seed from them if they win over Georgia! Tennessee would be my pick to do what Auburn did and make a run to the Championship if there is a sleeper to do it this year and that might just get them in if they end next week as winners!

Florida is the 2 seed. Florida owns the tiebreaker over AR. Tiebreaker procedures between two tied teams. 1. H2H record (vs Fl 1-1). 2. Best winning percentage vs #1 seed working down through 14 if needed. Vs KY (FL 1-1, AR 0-1). Now, much like the Vandy scenario, if USCe and AR win out, and Florida loses out, then we would slide in via Tiebreaker rule #1. More than two teams tied, best winning % among the tied teams vs each other (AR 2-1, FL 2-2, USCe 1-2).

The important thing for us is to get the double bye in the SECT, which we haven’t clinched yet. I believe any Arkansas win or Vandy loss clinches at least fourth. Vandy has the tiebreaker over us with a win over Florida. We have tiebreakers over USC, Bama, and Ole Miss.

As long as it isn’t Ole Miss, I could live with any of 'em. Regardless, I don’t see any of them making it unless they win the SECT. I see 4 SEC teams getting in: UK, UF, us, & SC. If I had to pick one other, I’d say Vanderbilt has the best shot.

[/quote] Thanks I thought it went to who beat who by the most points in 2 meetings. Good to know!
