According to an article in the Athletic:
The two-time All-Star brings important balance to the White Sox lineup as they were in desperate need of a left-handed bat. The signing means the White Sox can now dangle their other All-Star catcher, James McCann, to try and improve their bullpen.
Hopefully James can go somewhere that he won’t automatically be on the golf course the first week of October.
I’ll be glad to have him in a Reds uniform next year.
James re-signed with White Sox for $5.4 million next year. It’s 1-year deal. They could still trade him. But I doubt it. More likely that he could catch and DH or play some first base. Grandal is lefty so that would make a nice platoon. Catchers should get some rest so this could work out nicely.
5.4 for a one year deal. Good work if you can get it!
