Ryan Mallett, who had to be recruited when he left Michigan. As a freshman, probably. We’ve had some successful out of state QBs since, including Quinn Grovey, but I don’t think they were that highly regarded.
Mallet is a Texarkana kid though. If you know about Texarkana you know that it is heavy in Arkansas razorbacks. As a twin city he played his football about a mile from the state border. He doesn’t register as a true out of stater to me, I guess.
Oh sure. I believe the Mallett family actually lived on the east side of State Line Avenue at the time. But he did attend a Texas high school.
