We're the Michigan State of the SEC

We’re the Michigan State of the SEC. We don’t reload each year. We have to develop. We need stability in the program. Even the best coach isn’t going to have a great season every year. He’ll even have some bad seasons; but the right coach, over time, will give us some great seasons. I truly believe Bielema is the right coach. Over the next 15 years, he’ll give us 5+ great seasons, another 5+ average seasons, and even a bad season or two mixed in.

Should Michigan State have fired Saban after year 4? He sure wasn’t making progress! Should they have fired Dantonio after year 3, or after a 3-9 season this year? Notice how Dantonio builds and develops, then has 2-3 great seasons, followed by a disappointing season. Give Bielema time, and he’ll get us there.

I dare say Arkansas fans would take being Michigan State and run with joy.

Let’s win more 7 regular season games before we go talking all crazy!

It’s amazing how much better of a recruiter and coach Saban became once he went to LSU and especially Bama.

I think we would. I also think that, but for having MI as an in-state rival, Sparty is the blueprint for how we need to build the program.

They’re a “developmental” program with a HC who is a perfect fit.

Many wanted to run him off after his first few years and claimed he always blew the close game.

Ironically, the other comparable in terms of being similarly situated is Wisconsin.

I have no idea if Bielema can have the success Dantonio has had at MSU or that Bielema had at Wisconsin but I think he probably has as good a chance of doing it as anyone.

The main difference is that he has Alabama, LSU and Auburn in his division.

I wonder how many teams have swept those 3 in a single year in SEC history.

Would gladly take some Michigan state success. But I understand your point.

Dantonio is a good parallel for BB (and may have somewhat copied his Wisconsin approach) in that he has taken undervalued talent, coached them up and won a lot of games. Interestingly, with his success in recent years his recruiting has improved from the stargazers’ standpoint, yet they nosedived this season to 3-9.

However, it should also be noted that MSU’s rise corresponded to a downturn at the school in Ann Arbor. That downturn has now ended (and it may be a break for us that Meechigan bailed out on our series to resume playing Notre Dame).

Great post IMHO

Firing a head coach will fix nothing st Arkansas

We have done that time after time and nothing changes

We need to sweat it out a while and see how Ciach Btet does

I’m not happy with a loss to a dead last Team last of the season

But I’m more upset with the calls to fire the head coach

We must be morons

We keep firing coaches and nothing changes except our level of disappointment

I’m all in - fir coach Bret - next year is pivotal for me

I’m now thinking it’s Arkansas that’s the problem - not the coach

For what it’s worth, Ole Miss did it last year.
