Wednesday RPI update

After Vandy and LSU both lost midweek games at home to midlevel competition.

Kentucky remains #1. Poultry #2. Wake Forest moved past LSU into #3 after the Corndogs lost to La-La. LSWho is #4. We’re still #5. Vandy remained #7 after the 10-2 loss to Indiana State.

Also moving up was Campbell which jumped from 31 to 22 after beating UNC-Wilmington last night. Yes, that was the game I had tickets for. No, I didn’t go. I zoned out and didn’t realize it was Tuesday, even though it was clearly printed on the tickets. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Now that is something I would do Jeff :joy: but I thought you had tickets for Wednesday’s game LOL I thought they were playing 2 when I saw them playing yesterday.

That’s old folk stuff Jeff. You’re still a young gun… :joy:….

My girlfriend even agreed to go with me as long as we went out for pizza beforehand (not interested in ballpark food). I think we’re still going to go get pizza tonight though.

I can’t believe I looked at the schedule AND the tickets and “Tuesday” didn’t register. Which I just confirmed when I threw the now-useless tickets away.

Yeah Pizza is always good to make you forget the crazy things we do

Well… this young gun is watching his mom sink slowly into dementia and wondering when it will happen to me. With the added twist of at least two previous concussions. I’m laughing but it’s not really funny.

So sorry Jeff. Dementia is sad. We were caregivers for my mother in law for a year. She had Alzheimer’s. It was tough. My best friend just lost his mom (lived in Bryant too) to Alzheimer’s. He has a strong belief he will end up there too. We always said “she don’t know us but we know her”.

Mom still knows me and her long-term memory is relatively good. But she has no short-term memory. Last time I was back there she would ask me the same question over and over and over and have no memory of having asked it before or my answers.

Oh my. Our Sr. VP ended up with Alzheimer’s. His office was next to mine and we traveled together frequently. His symptoms started that way. It was sad.

Yeah, I can relate! My Dad died from Alzheimer’s related causes. My Dad was in his early to mid 70’s when diagnosed and he didn’t make it past 78. I’ll be 71 in a few days and believe me, it’s been in the back of my mind for awhile now.

Meanwhile, I have double-checked and confirmed that Wake Forest vs. UNCW next month is also on a Tuesday and got two general admission tickets. Which were more expensive than the reserved seats I didn’t use last night. Playing an ACC opponent, I guess.

I bet Vanderbilt’s coaches might have seen that kind of performance coming. Two of its starters, Hunter Owen and Carter Holton, have been battling injuries. Owen missed the South Carolina series and Holton only threw one inning.

Vandy essentially had to throw mid-week pitching to get through the South Carolina series, and go with more back of the bullpen arms last night.

Vandy picked the wrong time to play Indiana State. The Sycamores are riding an 11-game win streak. They haven’t lost in April and are 11-1 in their conference (and their RPI is #13). I get the feeling we don’t want to see them as a 2 or 3 seed in our regional in June, but with that RPI they might just host. Didn’t duck anyone scheduling either; they’ve played a bunch of Big Ten teams, Miami, Kentucky and Vandy, and have Misery for a midweek later in the season.

UNCW has a former Hog, Dillon Lifrieri, who transferred after a RS freshman year at Arkansas. He starts for UNCW. I took an interest in him because the Hogs signed him from a community here in Connecticut that is close to mine.

Which brings up a trivia question I posted a few weeks ago and never got an answer. Which Power 6 college basketball coach started his college playing career as a UNCW Seahawk?

I hate to hear that Jeff… my mom had a tragic accident and passed away 7 years ago at 83 she was not diagnosed with dementia but she had a really bad problems with UTIs that really messed up her memory and ability to function… I think it was probably just a matter of time before she slipped into dementia…

I am in the same boat. I’m afraid it is going to be a very long and brutal road.

The road is long and hard. The only condolence I can give you is that after it’s all over you can look back and know you loved her well. Even when it was not easy. Prayers…

did the same with my mom…it started slowly then her short term memory then all her memories…always said if i had an ex-wife…i wouldn’t wish Alzheimers or Dementia on her or anyone in her family…its an ugly ugly disease…seems to stay on the female side(maternal)side of our family…grandmother had it as well as mom’s baby sister(12 years younger)prayers for you both
