Way early Top 8 for 2023-24

Since media is doing way early Top 25 already, why not a way early Top 8 for Muss! My take.based on moves made by Muss so far

Brazil
Portal transfer 1 TBD
Makhi Mitchell
Graham
Walsh
Menifield
Portal transfer 2 TBD
Portal transfer 3 TBD

Any challenges?

Hmm… You don’t think that Block or Fall make the top 8?

I’m not ready to write off Devo yet.

I tried to put them in Top 8, but couldn’t find a place. In place of who? Blocker would have been there until Muss git Menifield commitment.

Assumption is Muss gets a big and two more guards from the portal.

I’m hoping we can improve in the 5 position. So, I don’t see it in PJ’s top 8.

I have read that things look good for Mark Battle and Watkins.

That would be 3 very talented young men we would be blessed to have them🤞

My best guess is:

Menifield
Devo vs Portal transfer 1 TBD
Walsh
Brazil
Makhi Mitchell vs Fall

First off the bench
Portal transfer 2 TBD
Graham vs Fall vs Makhi
Blocker vs Portal transfer 3 TBD

I know I copt out of the question but I honestly just don’t know what to think of Graham. Also hard for me to rank guess who aren’t here.

Youda, still hearing good things about Mark!! Those 3 plus a big (7’ from Kentucky) would be hard to deal with

That is Portal Transfer 1 on my list

Yeah by all accounts things are going really well with Mark and Watkins and Battle were here together… but nothing is guaranteed in this crazy world of the transfer portal that’s for sure LOL…

One thing is for sure we are going to pick up some very talented basketball players no matter who it ends up being… Muss is not going to another year of not being able to put the ball in the basket

I can see why Devo might want to leave as it looks like his playing time will take a hit with these great point guards coming in. Hate to see it though.

Don’t believe for a minute that Devo is concerned about competing for minutes. In my mind he has proved to himself and CEM that at crunch time he is the man

If we do get Mark (please), he’s a “cast in concrete” starter at either PG, 2 or wing. I assume PG is probably Menifield. If so, we would need good height at the 2G (Mark 6’5’“) and wing (Walsh 6’7"or 8”).

For a coach that likes guards with length, we now have 3 short guards on next year’s roster.

Menifield - 6’1" and Blocker - 6’2" who else? You counting Ford at 6’3" as short.

Maybe he’s wanting guards who are so quick and that they cannot be stayed in front of so easily??? Everybody that he’s looking at or has already brought in fits that description… you have seen how we play it’s pretty much one-on-one basketball for the most part…

Tall rangy guys have not been getting us to the next level. I think he’s wanting guys who can take the ball to the rack draw the foul and make the free throws and still be able to stick the 3

I think Menifield is for sure your starter at PG Mark I believe is a 2G… Blocker I think will back up Menifield. Battle is an absolute warrior and I believe he has to be 2,3. Watkins if we get him is 6’7 so I think he might be a stretch 4.

We are going to be bringing in some great athletes that are going to be extremely hard to stay in front of. I think that’s what he’s looking for and at the same time look to be able to hit the 3

After listening to Devo on the radio on Thursday he is going thru the draft process to gather information and it seems like he’s coming back to college.

Yes. He looks short on the court for sure,

I think Muss likes those rangy guys for defense more than offense. You are right about the offense.
