I live in Florida now and HS season began last night with a big tournament here in West Palm Beach. Some top talent going to Miami, Florida, FSU, Stanford, etc. Went to see Hog recruit Michael Brooks, 2020 class. 20 MLB teams represented last night watching a couple of pitchers including Brooks playing SS. He is very lean and physical even though only 5’11. Went 3-4 with double, 2 singles and 3 or 4 RBI’s last night. Every ball he hit was loud and hard, even the one out was a line shot to CF. Only 16 year old junior in HS but plays much older and mature. Our coaches are doing a great job getting high level talent.
First, Arkansas has seven in the top 51. I made an editing mistake to Dudley’s column last week that said there were eight top 51 players, instead of seven. I corrected that in the column.
Vanderbilt has eight commits in the top 100, although I’m not sure their exact ranks. The Commodores have PG’s No. 1 recruiting class in 2020, as of now, although I think Arkansas might add one more headliner down the road that could make its class challenge for No. 1.
Miami has seven players and South Carolina has six in the top 100. No other team has more than four.
