UConn sacks Kevin Ollie for "just cause"

Huskies are under NCAA investigation and this seems to be the impetus for the change, not that he helped himself with how his team played this season.

Ollie won the NC with Jim Calhoun’s leftovers in his second year but has gone downhill since.

In other coaching news, I thought it was interesting yesterday that Squid went to bat for Mark Fox in the postgame newser, saying that Fox had done a good job at Jawja without cheating. I guess Squid knows a cheater when he looks at one in the mirror every morning.

Why was this “just cause” just today?

Season’s over, they aren’t going to the NIT or anywhere else. I suspect the decision was made weeks ago and they just waited until the end to pull the trigger. “Just cause” means he won’t get whatever buyout was built into his contract.

Uconn has been cheating for so long it basically draws
a shoulder shrug. C-hoon was a two-legged piranha.

Greaseball will go to bat for anybody that won’t conduct business like he does and cheat! He is a jerk.
Mark Fox will be fine.
Kevin Ollie was in over his head. He may have some problems landing a job as a head coach for some time.

I live in Connecticut. Here is a good piece by a respected Hartford, CT newspaper writer. UCONN was staring a large buyout to move the losing coach out. It remains to be seen if the “for good cause” reason will hold up in court, if it gets that far. Maybe UCONN is angling for a settlement of some fraction of the buyout.
