Tulsa Game--Donald W. Reynolds Center

I did a double take when I saw that the Tulsa game next Tuesday night will be played at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. I thought, “Wait, does someone think this is a football game in Fayetteville?” Nope, Reynolds must have been a heck of a guy to contribute so much to athletics and performing arts. Reynolds built a media empire, which was called Donrey Media (DONald REYnolds, get it?) – newspapers, TV, radio, cable, billboards, etc. It was based in Fort Smith, then sold to the Stephens family and shifted to Las Vegas after his death in 1993. I cashed a few checks with the Donrey imprint as a stringer for the Fort Smith paper.

His foundation distributed his wealth in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Nevada, with the one exception I see the education center at Mount Vernon in Virginia. The foundation shut down in 2017.
