Trey Wade emerging in essential role

Wrote about Trey Wade, the uncle of Arkansas’ basketball team who is emerging in an essential role:

I don’t see the “essential role”. Similar to the rest of last year’s recruiting.

This team didn’t/doesn’t need a guy or two to play well in complementary roles around JD and Jaylin? Come on now.

I do believe “complementary roles” help. I just didn’t think he was brought on board to be a locker room guy.

He’s literally showing lately he’s not only that. What he’s been doing is in the story up top if you’re interested.

I’d love to see the defensive percentages of other players on the team, Toney for example looks to me to be a shutdown defender on whoever he is assigned. It seems he never takes a moment off.

I can bring those here tomorrow. Toney has had his good games limiting scores and others not so much. Jaylin and Stanley have been pretty impressive in SEC games.

awesome, thanks!

He is becoming a very important part of our recent success, plays great defense can knock down the three if left alone which I didn’t think he could do, very solid player.

Those stats suggest Umude is our best on-ball defender.

But Lykes is pretty good too, in spite of the disdain for him in some circles.

Stanley’s defensive SEC numbers are absolutely eye-popping! Wade’s are excellent. Jaxson’s give a pretty clear picture of why his number of minutes dropped drastically.

Lykes numbers are a little better in SEC games, which is most important now if he keeps it up.
Umude is just outstanding on D. He can bring it on both ends to.

I just noticed that as well, Lykes is a pest on defense because he gets up under them and he’s quick enough not to let them go around him much that’s why they try to post him up down low
