Told the wife that we would have to handle a Kentucky run in 2nd half -------------

-------------- and then come back to overcome it. She told me no way and that we had this game won with our 2nd half start. Damn. She was right. I was wrong and I hate it when that happens, but was really excited at how we came out intense, stomped on them, and then never let up the entire second half. Kentucky just seemed listless and timid. Like they couldn’t wait for it to be over. This is almost as good as Nolan’s bitch-slapping of the Cats in our first SEC game at Rupp.

Kentucky actually led at halftime of that first game. Then we hung up 55 on them after halftime.

I had the same prediction at halftime. I was glad to have the small lead, but I just felt like we’d lose it and then have the game come down to the last minute with either team having a chance to win–and that KY with the homecourt advantage would probably pull it out. I still couldn’t quite feel comfortable until the game got inside the 1:00 minute mark and we still had a double digit lead and the ball.

I started feeling good when the camera panned up into the stands and showed a steady stream of blue-clad folks getting out of Dodge. Which I think was about 3 minutes to go. Reminded me of when we won at Baton Rouge in the Bielema era and the Corndog fans started streaming out of Death Valley mid-fourth quarter.

I enjoyed watching that, too, but I was afraid they were being hasty. Stranger comebacks have happened and sometimes I can be a worrier.

With about 3 and half minutes left the announcers were saying the game was over. I was NOT sure at all. I was pacing, etc. My wife was laughing at me. I wasn’t comfortable until about 50 seconds or so were left.
