Will we see him be more involved this week or is that something they will continue to talk about?
My guess is talk.

[/quote]Yes . . . he’ll get 3 touches instead of 1 or 2.
I feel like TJ Hammonds is the new Do Wop Mitchell. I heard so much about Do Wop and he rarely got in and rarely got a touch. I kept waiting for Do Wop to break out. Heck, I’m still waiting for Dominique Reed to break out!
I think T.J. has a much higher ceiling than Duwop, but I don’t know that they trust him fully yet. Michael Smith said he was in the running to be the fifth WR who gets to play this week. They tried to send him in motion and throw that swing pass against TCU, but that was about it.
I’d like to see a concerted effort to get him up to speed, because he does have the ability to be a playmaker. By all accounts, he’s a sharp kid who cares, too.
I think that game reps really matter especial for a player to gain that elusive, “Rhythm.” I don’t think two or three plays stretched out over a three hour game is going to do anything but frustrate you. I think you have to force it a little. Keep letting him bang into the wall a few times until he breaks through. Then once he breaks one his confidence will go up and we’ll start seeing good things more frequently. We seem to let a guy take a wack at it a time or two and then we abandon him.
An inexperienced player needs preseason camp. He missed five weeks. It’s a setback. You don’t have the installation and you don’t have the timing. If he’s in a rotation at wide receiver, it won’t be significant. Austin Allen was asked about Hammonds. He said when he’s more consistent in assignments, it might lead to a more significant role.
