Way past time, in my view. We keep wearing those ugly red matte helmets. If we are not going to go with the chrome helmets, why can’t we go back to the shiny red helmets like Alabama wears? Those look much better than the dull matte helmets we wear every game. I have given up on ever having decent looking uniforms, but we could sport a nice looking helmet. I liked our deep cardinal red throw back helmets better than the red matte helmets.
Jeff Long, if you are reading this…help us out, man.
Something to consider: Those chrome helmets looked a lot better during the daytime than they did after the sun went down. Arkansas hasn’t played much during the day this year.
I’m with the OP on the matte helmet. Way past time to put those things away for good. While they are in a changing mode, could they just remove the white things in front of the shoulder of the jersey’s too? Ugly is not vile enough word to describe our uniforms since about 2007. Black shoes are a nice touch, though.
Disagree on the matte helmets. Best looking helmet we have ever worn and they look awesome on TV.
Agree. Love the matte helmets. The chrome helmets look like Christmas tree ornaments with face masks.

chrome helmets and color burst = white tops and pants and high white socks and white shoes. Sa- weet, baby!
Hard to be more of a “traditional uniform” fan than I am.
That said, I really like our current uniforms. Only significant change I’d make is to get rid of that “tusk” or whatever it is on the jerseys. It would be much better to put a (traditional) Hog on the sleeve, if anything. I’ve grown accustomed to the current pants, but would prefer dual red stripes as we wore for decades. But really, I like our uni’s now.
And that includes the helmet. I liked the shiny helmets we wore during the DMac days, but I’d probably have to say I like the matte/satin finish helmets we wear now just as much if not more. Loved the chrome, but think it should be saved for Bowl games or the SEC Championship game. Make it “elite special”. Maybe once a year, maybe not. Certainly not every week. I LOVE pecan pie. It’s a real treat. But I’d probably grow tired of it if I had it every day.
I did love the 2014 throwback uniforms we wore for Alabama, and would like to see them again (as I remember when we wore the originals they were based on!). But it really has to be the right situation. I think it wold be cool whenever we host a former SWC school (such as TCU next season) - let them wear a throwback uniform as well (if they want to).

I’m young and I’m no fan of the matte helmet. Looks so dull to me. You want something that shines some and grabs attention. I feel like it takes away some from our unique and good looking helmets. Have been hoping they change it since CBB has got here but still hasn’t. Glad they got rid of that gosh ugly black fade they had on the back of them at one time. Now back to pro style helmets. No pro team has to matte look. Says enough to me.
On list of things that don’t bother me at all, “our helmets don’t look like anything in the NFL” would have to be in there somewhere. NFL helmet designs are generally pretty lame. Especially the one with the blue star.
I didn’t like it when we had the metal flake helmets because they looked too much like Paperclip, and I say that fully aware that OU copied our unis in the mid-60s. I happen to like the matte. I also like the chrome, every once in a while. I would not like fulltime chrome like the Fighting Petrinos are wearing.
