- Will our players play inspired ball for the coaches under fire or fold it up for the Year? Our NC talks about how good his team have responded these last few weeks &remain engaged. Guess we’ll see in Oxford.
2.if we tank this game against Ole Miss, then I see no way Jeff Long is able to retain CBB. I’m having difficulty seeing Long keep him now, but another loss & there’s no way he stays. - Our next coach MUST have deep roots in Texas & hire a staff that can successfully recruit Texas. We’ve had marginal success in Texas IMO since we’ve joined the SEC, and this has to change if we’re going to improve our standing in the SEC. And I’d a change in offensive philosophy for the next regime.
I have no idea what the mood is inside the locker room. The players seem to say the right things.
The players all seem to like and respect Paul Rhoads. I don’t get why the defense seems to just give up sometimes. Is it just getting tired? Mentally unable to answer the challenge?
Is the talent just so far below other teams that they just can’t compete? It is obvious from the way other teams players run away and leave us in the dust that we are slow. And some 4th and 5th year players cannot tackle consistently.
OTOH, we might play pretty well on defense for 50 plays but then give up 5 big plays that just kill us.
Doc, this is so true and thinking the same thing yesterday. Texas is they key to Arkansas being competitive. CBB did pull a few guys out of Florida but that is the exception, always thought the staff was too enamored with Florida…it is a much easier sell to get players out of Texas, especially DFW and east Texas where only 5 hour drive from home.
I sensed tiredness and frustration with the defense last night. While they gave up the first touchdown drive, I thought they fought hard, especially on the goal-line. (BTW, it’s a good thing the booth decided to review the first down that wasn’t). But you can only be put in tough positions so many times without it taking a toll physically and mentally. The fact Auburn ran 20+ plays on its first two possessions of the game was telling throughout the second half.
We played the starters in the Back 7 way too long and they were tired before halftime. They looked good until the muffed punt turnover gave AU an easy score before half time.
Agree totally.

I wonder if the players even like the scheme we play on offense. I’m sure they would like to play a more “fun” offense but idk.
Any offense can be fun if it’s hitting on all cylinders. Our problem is we’re an 8-cylinder offense running on 2 cylinders.
I thought the defense just got worn out. Until our last touchdown drive which took up 7 minutes, Aubie had a huge advantage in both plays run and time of possession. Still wound up with nine more plays and a three-minute TOP edge.
The run blocking was better last night; the pass blocking (and the penalties on the linemen) were horrible.
Last night in the first half the offense failed to sustain drives to rest the defense. When they fought hard to stop the 4th down I thought it might be a good night but once again a special teams screw up on the fumble off the punt screws it up. I can’t understand any players bumping into a punt returners when they never return one anyway! Just another example of a poorly coached special teams unit. That in a nut shell was the end of the game.
Enos and Coach B watched the outside blitz and never made an adjustment to either use a TE or a running back to protect Kelly. That is just poor coaching.
This staff needs to take the blame for the results.
The comment Coach B made about this team being fragile is completely out of line he built and should own it. That’s what he has earned.
The penalties by Ramirez were drive stoppers as well as Patton and Ragnow.
That was the most penalties we have had in a while.
The kick off return last night by Warren was a bright spot. There’s hope for next year we just need coaches to do thier job and call plays to win and be aggressive.
This year for all practical purpose is ranked already. Whether they end up with 3 wins or 5 or 6.
In the past 5 games aginst Texas A&M gives a good snapshot of just how many ways you can give a game away. I’m tired of losing games the hogs should have won.
Next Saturday aginst Ole Miss won’t change anything! Play the young hogs and get them some experience.
Maybe the defense can get some help from the offense.
I don’t see anyway CBB survives if he loses this Ole Miss game. Simple.

Agreed. Not sure he survives if he wins out, and I don’t care what ESPN’s ratings show but I would give about a 49% chance of winning against Ole Miss, an 80% chance of beating Coastal Carolina, a 30% chance against Mississippi State, a 5% chance against LSU and a 55% chance against Missouri. If the O-line doesn’t protect whoever is QB or blocks enough to establish some semblance of a running game, every game will be unwinnable.
