With the Tech game postponed, I watched the first 6 innings of the Texas game again, and it struck me . . . that wonderful sixth inning, when we just landed body blow after body blow to them . . . reminded me of the glory days under Nolan, when we’d be leading a game 17-15 and then go on a 26 to 4 run in about 4 or 5 minutes to essentially end the game. There would be 3 or 4 three pointers, a couple of steal/dunks and a couple of super assists/layups and - BAM! - it was over.
That inning was a thing of beauty. We’ve been doing the same thing to othes all season long. Here’s hoping we see a few more like it during this visit to Omaha.
I think we will need one of those explosive innings against TTU & also think we will get plenty of hits on their pitchers. Just hope the hits are timely with runners on base.
But TTU also have lively bats & if Murphy gets knocked out early we will chew up our bull pen as well.
I agree. We’re not only capable of winning it all, I now believe we are the best team there. The only thing that scares me is that I know the best team can so easily lose in baseball. So the big inning is very crucial for us. If our pitching can hold a team like TT to no more than 3-4 runs I’m confident we can score 6+ most games.
I’m sure TT has good pitching for its 2nd game, but it can’t be any better than what we’ve faced all season. We’ve made some of the best look pretty bad. And on occasion some mediocre ones have pitched like Nolan Ryan against us. The odds are with us, but I’m still nervous.
I’m nervous too! I started to run my lines in the river this morning but it’s overcast and looks like it could rain! The game starts at 11 so I didn’t want to miss it by getting stuck out on the river.
I also think we have the best team in Omaha. If the hogs can get the win today I believe they will make it to the final.
