Aloha,
In basketball, a coach can get a technical for vigorously arguing with the officials. In baseball a coach can argue and just get tossed out of the game. Often it fires up the crowd and/or his players as they feel their coach has their back. Remember the results of UK’s John Calipari against UA last season?
However, in football if a coach argues a horrendous call apparently the reprisal is much stiffer including fines. I vividly remember Frank Broyles and Lou Holtz challenging the officials inspiring the players and fans with great results and no fines. But today apparently football coaches are not allowed to dispute calls with the same intensity as in other sports.
How I would love to see CSP some day just say enough is enough and damn the fines and hold the officials accountable. I guess he’s either waiting for the best moment or the fines are just too much. I trust his judgment. Just find it so unfair for the football coaches to be so restricted and the officiating never improves.
GHG!
Agree there is this don’t criticize officials or the league office, it is a bunch of crap!
How bout a Go Fund Me Page for Sam Pittman’s fines.
It’s wrestling.
But that’s only in press conferences. A Coach can still get his point across to refs during the game. Saban and Petrino do it non stop.
Now in our case that may backfire and cause more inept calls against us. But it works differently for the elites. It sucks tho.
The SEC is bias to who they want to win! In football we are not suppose to win in the eyes of the SEC head shed!
It’s obvious with the 2 plays that were reviewed and the same result no clear and immediate recovery! It was clear on TV that there was an obvious clear recovery!
It certainly appears that blatant, undeniable bias has occurred
against our team REPEATEDLY. What are we supposed to think? Why aren’t these louts being called to account and serious repercussions dealt? Of course we ‘see’ the same thing happening across our country everyday, but we are told not to believe what our eyes are telling us. Move along, nothing to see here. There will be a day of reckoning.
There is no SEC bias as to who “they” want to win. Come on. Who is “they?” Do you realize how many people would need to be involved in such a scheme? Arkansas has largely been a losing program. It may get bad calls here and there because of that. Or not. But let’s quit the black helicopter stuff.
It’s my understanding you can request an official or ref not call your games but SEC makes the decision. In the case of Curle and Arkansas, I just think it’s too toxic to allow him to call anymore Hog games.
I can’t recall a more hated ref/official than this guy. Andre Patillo is up there I’m sure.
Can’t believe Catalon suspension upheld. HY needs to talk more about even if he is fined,
At this point Hunter needs to sternly address this to Commissioner Sankey. I don’t think he will get anywhere with the Officials and Replay heads. Seems to be an arrogant bunch there.
And the music played on.
Oh, believe me, Perry Costello is on an even par with Marc Curles.
Yes. And had we ever had another game with Preston Watts, I guarantee you his name would have been added to the list. I’ve been watching Razorback football for nearly 60 years. I know the name “Tommy Bell” and know all about the Ole Miss game he officiated in 1960. I also remember the SMU game in 1982 & Horton Nsertra.
But for my money, Preston Watts is still the most infamous ass (see what I did there) who has ever screwed the Hogs in any sport in any game.
Your right adgebg same song, same verse sure gets old
The saddest thing about this crock of drunk zebras is the more officiating you put on the field (including play back tape) it seems to only get worse.
Aloha,
What leverage if any does the UA have with the SEC leadership? The bad officiating has been noticed nationally. It’s not our imagination
GHG!
I know Curles is the referee, but the bad calls were not by him. I’m fact, he rarely made a call in the game. It was his crew. And the replay guy, Ken Switzer. That is the guy I would not want. He was the replay guy at Auburn, too.
I don’t like to see Curles, but a couple of his guys are the ones I’d toss.
Do we know if the Curles crew is the same as has been together for several years? Or is it an amalgam of “local” officials put together for this year?
I think that the replay official (Switzer) needs to be retrained and/or fired.
