The one thing the NCAA has been consistent about is they don’t like coverups. Bruce Pearl didn’t get a show cause for inviting Aaron Craft to a cookout. He got a show cause for lying about it. Paying off players and girlfriends out of your wife’s bank account is pretty much hanging a “guilty as charged” sign around your neck,
And LSU’s failure to fire him three years ago when this all came out isn’t going to work very well either.
Oh they still would have fired him. This is all about protecting LSU football, which remember is lumped into the IARP case with all of Wade’s shenanigans. They don’t want the NCAA dropping a multiyear ban on the football team for lack of institutional control because they kept Wade around too long. Which could still happen, but dragging things out would have made it worse.
Three years is a long time to turn the other cheek. He was winning by LSU basketball standards and recruiting well above it. The absolute FBI surveillance and other school admittance was not enough proof to fire him during that run. LSU can’t get more whore like if they planned it.
Nailed it. The LSU Administration is 100% culpable in the running denial and burying their heads in the sand. Their sign should read; See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, they make a perfect trio of moneys.
