The 8th grade eagle line

Every baseball fan is aware of the Mendoza line. That .200 batting average that Minny Mendoza seemed to straddle for most of his career. When I was in the 8th grade, I weighed about 120 pounds. I have always thought anyone who graces a major league roster should be able to maintain a batting average above .120. No matter how good your glove is, you can’t just be a blackhole in the lineup. At the very least, you should be able to hit your weight. Well the Cardinal’s Paul Dejong weighs about 205, same as me these days. Last night Paulie D. Saw his average dip below the 8th grade eagle line. If the man goes 0 for San Francisco, I see no way Norman Gorman isn’t called up from Memphis. I don’t know what happened to Dejong. His career started on such a promising note. I thought he would be the Cardinal SS for years.
