Texas offers Arkansas LB commit Andrew Parker...

Not entirely apples to apples, but in fairness to Parker the situation has changed from the kid’s perspective. He only had one P5 offer when he said yes to us. Since then other choices have become available…very fluid… it’s not like he’s been an Arkansas commitment for months.

It’s all coming fast at the kid…hope he sticks but won’t blame him if he doesn’t

No kidding! Most of us did not get a D1 offer to play sports. If we were 18 and in his shoes we would be lapping this up as well. And, before anyone wants to suggest the “honor the commitment because ‘honor’ means something” … as a parent, at the end of the day I want what’s best for my child. Coaches will learn if they haven’t already - its why you keep visiting and calling your commits.

We were on him first. If nothing else, that should calm the nerves of folks (and it usually does if they like the coach; those that fell out of favor with Bielema were always bashing an offer of a lightly-recruited player, but never owned that when the player blew up because others paid attention to the kid’s offer sheet).

Who blew up for Arkansas under Bielema as a low rated recruit?

How can he know if one is a better offer than the others if he doesn’t visit the others?

I see nothing wrong with a kid - who was overlooked by coaches - checking out his options for what is one of the biggest decisions of his life

@Howboutthemhogs…not going to play the trolling game, but can provide a couple of easy names: Scoota Harris and Randy Ramsey. Jarcques McClellon. John Mincey.

Just see what DD wrote about offers. Got your answer. Texas and A&M offers have more drawing power.

Their offers have more drawing power because our brand is in the toilet -years of losing, boring uniforms, a stale ole fashioned coach, etc.

There is a reason Morris keeps tweeting pictures of white cleats, chrome helmets, himself wearing 901 caps, rap inspired recruiting graphics, etc… He’s trying to reinvigorate a brand that is associated with boredom and losing.

We will just have to agree to disagree. And yes, I have mixed feelings when it works to UofA’s benefit. A few years out of school I decided to move back to my hometown. I interviewed with a major law firm, didn’t get an offer. Interviewed with a young sole guy looking to branch out a little bit. Had no other options at that time. Thought about it awhile, accepted the offer. A week later, got a call from another firm, offering me a position. I was torn, the money was better at the new offer, frankly, everything was better at the new offer. This was a major deal, I had a wife and small child. But I had given my WORD to the other guy. I turned down the late offer. My word meant something. To me, if I wasn’t a man of my word, I wasn’t much of anything. Just how I look at things.

It was good to see your perspective on this, StillGregHog.

There are more principled lawyers than not, I think.
My nephew graduated from Vanderbilt Law and is
a prosecuting attorney in Chattanooga and I strongly
believe he is of a like mind. He is an exceptional man.

The squeaky wheel and the 20% garner the attention,
but they are the exception.

I hope we at least get either Parker or Moody.
We need more SEC level linebackers.

It seems that anyone who thought you might be satisfied when Bielema lost his job is probably mistaken. I also am not sure what you stated above is fully accurate in most people’s mind.

You don’t think the Arkansas brand/reputation was in the toilet with one winning SEC record in six years?

Okie Dokie - I can assure you that you are as wrong about this as you were the previous coach.

As to my satisfaction level? FULLY SATISFIED!!

Bielema - Adios
Long- Adios
SEC games in WMS - not done yet, but UA will continue to play in LR for many years. A GREAT decision.

I’m happier than a pig in excrement!

No I don’t think the brand was in the toilet, but will defer to you, since you seem more a toilet expert than most. But you misinterpret my taking exception to your tone of posting (which I felt to be generally overly negative and extremely condescending)as a opinion pro or con regarding Bielema. Was and am comfortable with the decision makers to know what decisions to take and the timing.

I can assure you I knew better than Jeff Long when it came to CBB… hence both of them being persona non grata at the University of Arkansas. Unlike you when the decision makers take an idiotic stance… Long’s continued support of CBB… I won’t “defer” to them like you. We need more fans with a questioning attitude rather than a “ thank you sir may I have another” mindset.

[/quote]Guess I should thank you and congratulate you, but seems you have beat me to this!

One of the best posts on here in a long time! Kudos!!

Guys, maybe you should take your personal animosity off the board; we don’t need a play by plat!

I know my outlook on life has changed a lot since I was 17 or 18 years old. I didn’t always do the right thing at that age. Many of the values instilled in me didn’t fully take hold, or I didn’t fully understand their impact, till I had some life seasoning to color the lens I looked at them through.

While I value keeping your word and integrity, the simple fact is, at 17 or 18 years old, they are not fully mature men and still have some mistakes to make and learning to do.

All true and unfortunately many come from one parent homes and are lacking male role models that teach them the value of commitment, integrity, etc.
