Texas (killing our rpi)

The good news is we beat UT Arlington already and we don’t have Shaka Smart as head coach.

The bad news is our big “neutral” court showcase game is now a must win and opportunity for bad loss while Houston is our only remaining good rpi non-con opponent.

(UTA just beat UT in Austin for first time ever)

Houston also lost big to what had been a mediocre LSU team. You usually expect a Kelvin Sampson team to rebound, but LSU destroyed them on the boards.

I do agree it’s a big game for us and should be a win. We’re a much better team than them right now. But, say we lose it would be considered more of a missed opportunity than a bad loss. At worst Texas will end up with a top 100 RPI and that’s if everything goes wrong for them. You have to remember they are in the Big 12, their SOS will be extremely good once it’s all said and done, and they will pull off some upsets once conference play starts. It’s very early and they are are dependent on freshman and sophomores. They will get better as they go, they have the talent, just need to get some experience.

Also, Houston looked good for one half against LSU and then fell off second half, I agree with you that they are a good non-conference opponent this is a team we have to make sure we take seriously and take care of business against.

You are worried about our RPI? We won’t be a bubble team. This team is way too talented.

I’ll stop worrying when we win a couple road games, bc really I don’t want to squeak into the dance by winning out at home and only beating Missouri on the road. I want a solid team, and a solid seed, and solid chances to win multiple post season games in a row. We will have our chances in sec play to show what we can do away from home. But if we miss our non con opportunities then we will have a steeper hill to climb to earn a decent seed.

if we go undefeated this month that includes wins vs houston, texas and florida… should we be ranked in top 25 then? I would think so.
