It has been noted here that Memphis hired their offensive line coach as their new head coach, so maybe we started a trend. But I don’t think it has been noted that, after that, Appalachian State’s replacement for Eli Drinkwitz was announced, and he too was an offensive line coach. So there is no “maybe” about it, this is not a trend we started, it is an avalanche.
Admittedly my only coaching experience was at the high school level. I coached defensive ends, outside linebackers, and receivers, but I paid attention to what our offensive line coach was doing. From my viewpoint, that position group is absolutely the most difficult to coach. Should prepare a man well.
