With apologies, I provided a little history of the magazine with the keys:
@ClayHenry Your story about getting Hawgs Illustrated started is fascinating. HI has been a wonderful way for this Arkansas boy that moved to TN about 24 years ago to stay informed on the Hogs. With very few Hog fans here in Chattanooga being able to communicate with other Hog fans on the HI message board has meant a lot to me. I know OH was so proud of your work and the success of HI. You certainly have his talent for telling stories. You are very much appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks Danny. I’ve been a lucky guy. My job is about writing about something you love. Easy.
Awesome article Clay!! Hope you have an Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving Clay! And I enjoy your magazine. Especially because it covers our hogs.
Really enjoyed the history you have with HI. I know you have been blessed with some talented people around you. I think part of that is reflected with your acknowledgment and appreciation in detail. Good people with talent are attracted to good people with talent. Thanks for the memories. You are a blessing to all of us. Happy Thanksgiving, Clay.
Thanks for the walk down Memory Lane … have very much enjoyed following your writing and business success … thankful for your friendship and Happy Thanksgiving to you, JA and the girls

Funny story, this piece has flooded my phone with texts thinking I announced my retirement. Not so fast. I’m sure it’s closer to that time but I’m still having fun. Great to cover a winner.
I’m asked frequently “how do you know it’s time to retire”. My answer is “when it’s not fun anymore you will know”. I’ve been retired for 4 1/2 years and have never had one moment of regret. I had a wonderful career that was fulfilling and fun. My wife never complained about the constant travel, long hours and the stress that comes dealing with retailers who were never happy. Thinking about her sacrifice made my last year not so fun. So we bought a RV and have visited over 40 states in it since retirement. It’s my new purpose. Finding cool places to visit with the love of my life.
I believe that @ClayHenry is living his best life right now. Fishing often, playing some golf and continuing to write wonderful stories that we all love.
Danny, you got it right. And Jean Ann has been retired for four years. She has figured that part out.
I got home late last night and Jean Ann/Sarah baked me my favorite cake, yellow with chocolate icing with a big 30 on top of the icing. I’d say it was the great icing for a sweet day.
It quit being fun years ago but the bank statement tells me I have to keep going. I used to tell people I’d wind up as a code blue on me at the hospital at 3 a.m. some time, but I don’t work in hospitals any more. So who knows?
Sorry Jeff. Me & Clay were blessed with work that we loved. But you certainly have my respect for your career as a health care professional. Hats off to all of the guys and gals like you!
