Hogs are playing the Manhattan Jaspers in the regional. So, you may be asking, what the heck is a Jasper?
Jasper was the name of a priest who was a prominent figure around the Manhattan campus for many years in the last 19th century, including serving as the school’s baseball coach and athletic director. So they named the team for him. The Baseball Hall of Fame credits Brother Jasper with inventing the seventh inning stretch way back when.
