Softball hits Auburn with big inning

War Chickens led 1-0 through 5.5 innings, but Hogs scored 7 in the sixth inning at Bogle Park. Ryan Jackson had the big hit, a three-run double to the gap in left center. Auburn waited way too long to change pitchers, about six runs too long. To be fair, the runs were all unearned after their third baseman threw one away trying to get a force out at second.

Final score 7-1. Mary Haff pitched a four-hitter. Hogs are now 11-12 in SEC play, 37-17 overall. Last year we finished 12-12 in SEC play, won two games in the SEC tournament, hosted a regional and won it. Tomorrow is the last SEC game and we could again finish 12-12. Our RPI was #22 coming into the weekend, no way to guess how much a sweep of Auburn would affect that. SEC tournament starts Wednesday in College Station.

Those young ladies tore it up in the 7th. Clutch 2 strike double was a thing of beauty. We’re in town and headed to the game this afternoon. This will be our first experience at Bogle Park. Can’t wait!
