The Razorbacks’ soccer team jumped six places to No. 3 in this week’s coaches poll. That is the highest ranking in program history.

The pandemic wiped out matches at UNC and Duke. UNC is #1 this week and Duke is 7th; UNC beat Duke 2-0 on Sept. 27 at Duke and also beat #3 Clemson 2-0 last Thursday. If we’d taken that road trip and beaten both of those schools we’d be #1 now. Clemson dropped to #6 after the defeat.

It’s truly amazing how vastly improved our Women’s Sports teams have become. I’m losing track of how many are ranked in the Top 10: Soccer, T/F and XC. How about Golf, Softball and Gymnastics? Superior coaches, facilities and athletes. We’re witnessing a pinnacle of Women’s Sports on the Hill.

First women’s golf ranking will be out October 17. But our women are leading a tournament at the Blessings including all of the SEC teams (second round currently showing on Golf Channel). Gymnastics and softball were wiped out this year by the pandemic but we’re very good in both. Gymnastics was #18 and softball was #20 when the season shut down.

Speaking of women’s golf, Brooke Matthews took a three shot lead in the individual race by dunking a wedge from the fairway for eagle on 16. She now leads by 4. Hog women lead LSU by 13 shots as they play 17.
Matthews finished with a 66 and leads by five.

So far, Guy. Last weekend worried me a little. Usually when I arrive at a site there has been one or two positive tests. When I got there Friday there had been 40 (out of 85 residents), and one of those had died. The remaining 39 were in quarantine behind locked doors, but it was still scary. Tested yesterday when I left, though, and it came back okay.
This makes me feel old. I’ve watched her grow up playing every inch of Pinnacle. She’s absolutely dominating the Blessings right now. Just a phenomenal family.
