In looking at Arkansas’ slow start today, it reminded me of something Doug Collins said during one of the Olympic broadcasts the other day. He said the international ball is a lot different than the ones we use here and that no matter how much you practice with it, it’s different once you get into a game setting. He said that is why games are typically more high scoring toward the end of the Olympics than the first round.
I’m wondering if we’ll see something similar with Arkansas as this trip goes along.
Very good point. The international ball is tough to pick up for some, even a shooter as good as Klay Thompson. He’s probably the second-best shooter in the NBA and has really, really struggled in Olympic play on mostly wide-open looks with a shorter arc. The ball is a lot more slippery and tough to grip than what is used over here.
