SEC Tournament

Taking my 10 year-old to Hoover to watch the Tournament. A few questions for those that might know:

  1. Where are the Hogs staying? He would love meeting some of the guys in the hotel lobby.
  2. What are some suggested restaurants in the area? (already aware of Dreamland BBQ)
  3. We won’t have the golf clubs with us, but anything else cool to do in Birmingham between games?
Thanks in advance for any help.

My brother in law lives in Birmingham I’ll call him and get list of things to do with kids. I’ll post when he replies. Right now he’s at a softball tournament with my 12 year old niece.

I don’t know where they are staying, but they typically practice at Samford’s baseball field the day before they play. I’ll try to get some details.

Check out Saw’s BBQ in Homewood. It is outstanding. There are a lot of shops and restaurants in Homewood, about a mile or two from Samford’s campus.

I have never done this, but I want to visit the Birmingham Civil Rights District sometime when I am in town.

I can’t remember the name of the hotel, but it’s connected to a mall. All the teams stay there, and players will be hanging out there, especially at meal time in the food court.

Teams arrive early for their games (watching other teams play). There will be plenty of opportunity for your son to get up close looks and autographs.

You probably are talking about the Wynfrey if it is connected to a mall.

That’s the Birmingham Hyatt Regency - The Winfrey Hotel. That’s actually where we are staying. Great news, but now I might not ever get him away from the lobby.
Thanks again for the help.
