SEC leaving CBS

CBS backed out of negotiations with the SEC this week, leaving ESPN/ABC as the likely winner of the battle to own TV rights to the SEC’s biggest football game each week beginning in 2024.

Wow!! That is definitely a shocker

:open_mouth:
I wouldn’t have expected that.

The SEC Network is part of the ESPN family, correct? That then makes more sense.

That is correct, as is the ACC network (and the Longhorn spitnetwork)

CBS was offering more than 5 times what they’re paying now. Wasn’t enough. With 14 teams, they’re gonna get up to $25 million PER TEAM per year.

That should pay for a nice chunk of RRS and Baum-Walker and an offensive cooordinator…
