I couldn’t fine a list anywhere; but, based on last years players and new commits, I came up will the following eleven scholarship players and make corrections if not correct:
Name … Pos … Yr … Ht … Wt
Adrio Bailey… F … JR … 6-7… 217
Daniel Gafford … F … So … 6-11… 234
Jalen Harris … G … RS … 6-2 … 164
Gabe Osabuohien … F … So … 6-8 … 219
Reggie Chaney … PF … Fr … 6-8 … 230
Keyshawn Embery … PG … Fr … 6-4 … 198
Ethan Henderson … F … Fr … 6-9 … 190
Isaiah Joe … SG … Fr … 6-4 … 175
Mason Jones … SG … So … 6-5 … 205
Jordan Phillip … SG … Fr … 6-7 … 210
Desi Sills … PG … Fr … 6-1 … 170
Also the following, but I don’t believe Khalil will ever play.
Khalil Garland … G … RF … 6-5 … 198
Jonathan Holmes … G … Jr … 5-10… 190
Assuming that is everyone and I only guessing, but if they don’t sign anyone else or just sign one, Garland will probably remain on scholarship for another year. If they sign none, maybe Holmes will be given a scholarship for a year. However, since I don’t believe Garland will ever play, they could sign two and place Garland on a medical scholarship.
The reason I don’t believe Garland will ever play is because it is not an injury and if an operation or some treatment could fix it, they would have had already done that. I think it is rare for a medical condition that is not injury related or can’t be treated to improve.
I don’t doubt that you are correct. That makes sense if, I’m wrong and in fact, there is a high probability that Garland will be cleared to play. Otherwise, in my opinion, it’s a bad deal for both Garland and the UofA. That is because, Garland is in limbo for two years, hoping for what will never happened while, if he was put on a medical scholarship, he could move on with his life or attempt to play somewhere else. In that case, he will not be happy to be put on hold for two years and then told he won’t be cleared to play at Arkansas.
And, it is bad for the UofA, because in effect, they are penalized for two years with the loss of a scholarship player.
On another issue, I understand that Dima Zdor, 6-10, 210, Hagerstown, Md., Saint James, might commit to Arkansas. However, I think he is delaying because he is hoping for a better offer. If we sign him, I guess that means we have 7 freshmen (not including Garland); otherwise, I believe we are done for 2018-2019.
Are you sure we are willing to take a commitment from someone who hasn’t visited the campus? If we were “that interested” he would have visited already IMO.
Arkansas could be hosting forward Dima Zdor for an official visit soon after extending a scholarship offer this week…
“Planning to do it sometime next week,” said Zdor of an official visit to Arkansas.
Per the foregoing, Zdor has an offer and is planning to visit. However, based on Dudley’s and PJHawg’s comments, perhaps I should take the May 4 article with a grain of salt.
I Googled and discovered that Ibrahim Ali was released from his National Letter of Intent with the Baylor last month. However, per the article, he wouldn’t commit either so it appears that no one knows. Therefore, I assume that Arkansas will continue to recruit until either Zdor, Ali, or someone else commits or else Arkansas doesn’t sign another player for 2018-2019.
